Lets just say I prefer using it over my Mom's 400 dollar DVD player =).(I do have a 10 dollar Dynamix remote controller for the DVD player on the PS2 though.)

If it wasn't for GTA3...I would say ps2 sucks..I would take gamecube/Xbox over it anyday.. don't get me wrong playstation is a capable system better then the others but the big down is..They arn't comeing up enough good games. A few but not as much.
PS2 has varios bugs too. I called Sony and asked this question, "Why do the DVD's blank out every 40 seconds when I watch them?" They said, "If you have your PS2 hooked to your VCR, it is a bug called Macrovision, which causes an interference in the PS2 DVD drive. If you want to fix this problem, use a TV with the 3 conectors to work properly". So basically i'm screwed for watching DVD's...

The controller can be extreamly hard to work out sometimes. Be careful what buttons you hit or you will have to do ff or rw alot.. You will get used to it though

Hehe, November Dragonball Z: Legendary Super Warriors releases for Playstation 2. If is badass and here's a site with pics --> http://www.dbzonps2.com/ also http://www.infogrames.com has the previews

Yea sure. The only people that played/have demos are beta testers. You had to be 16 and up to be a beta tester. The beta tests were only in the UK. So, there IS no way you played the demo

LoL. It's not a rumor, it's part 2 of Legacy of Goku. It goes from Android - Buu Saga.

Macrovision isn't a bug, it's a feature! The big movie studios all got together when they were first designing the DVD specification and wanted a way to prevent people from copying superior quality DVDs. One way they did this was by encrypting the data on a DVD and only giving out the algorithm to companies that paid for it (usually also members of the same association). Every DVD player has a builtin decoder that allows it to read data on the DVD and play it. The encryption key is hidden on a portion of the disc that can't be written by DVD burners, so if you try to copy the DVD, you'll get a nice perfect copy that's all garbled with no key to decrypt it.

But this wouldn't stop anyone from hooking up the DVD player to their VCR and making a less-than-perfect copy. The big movie studios didn't want this either (screw fair use, they want more of your money!), so they developed Macrovision. They discovered that VCRs are very sensitive to high frequency changes in the video signal, making it look like crap when passed through the VCR. TVs, on the other hand, are not sensitive at all, so they look just fine when playing this signal. Thus the Motion Picture Association of America added Macrovision to the DVD specification - plays fine on your TV, but looks like crap on your VCR. The unfortunate side effect is that you can't hook up the DVD player through the VCR.

There are some ways around this. One thing you can do is get an RF modulator/switch that will allow you to hook up multiple inputs to the same TV. I have something similar to this one allowing me to hook up a DVD player, PS1, GameCube, and VCR to the same TV. There are also much more sophisticated ones out there, and a lot of home theatre setups include this capability in the amplifier.

Another possibility is to get a DVD player that allows you to disable Macrovision. None on the market explicitly allow this, but certain brands don't make it difficult. Apex players rock. They are dirt cheap at Wal-Mart, play more DVDs than some super expensive models, and many models have hacks available to disable Macrovision and region encoding (a nice way the MPAA cartel is able to illegally fix DVD prices). A couple of good sites for Apex info are http://www.nerd-out.com/ and http://www.apexmodchip.com/. I successfully used the info there to make an "upgrade" cdrom for my sister's Apex player that removed Macrovision and region encoding. My model requires a modchip and I haven't bothered to buy one.

It works fine, but do yourself a favor and invest $14 in a CD lens cleaner -- it's basically a CD with 6 or 8 little bristles on the back. The PS2 seems to have a knack for picking up mung on the lens. Also, get a CD lens cleaner and not a DVD lens cleaner -- the DVD lens cleaner will require you to go through some kind of elaborate video-based setup, which doesn't help if you can't read the DVD!

It better have a damn playing time of more than 3 hours.
not such a good idea since consoles have a 5 year lifespan and the ps3 or whatever they are gonna name it is gonna be out in about a year or so...but whatever floats your boat
In response to Jotdaniel
oh it wont....infogrames isnt exactly known for good games they put out like 50 games a year all with a few hours of play time
