Absolutely not! Rap is good. It doesnt need to be filtered with sweat words, country music trash, and teddy bears.

Then don't say it's the rapper who is promoting underage sex, this is the child's falt for buying the music(Or the parent's for allowing their children to listen to the music. Don't get me started with the varieties of how a child gets ahold of the music), and doing what the rapper says. If someone is too stupid to understand that songs are just for entertainment, then let them go become a "thug" and get shot, the world does not need idiots. If you have ever listened to some rock songs, they promote the same things, without using such a long line of cuss words, and a lot of them promote satanic rituals(Or, following dark gods and acting upon their socially immoral beliefs.). So lets see, rap = sex, drugs, out-of-the-water violent acts, and anger | rock = sex, drugs, satanic ritual, out-of-the-water violent acts, and anger. So you see, they both promote a lot of the same things, just expressed in different ways. Both of them also have a few good artists and groups which are not so bad about what they talk about.

And this is coming from a person who uses the words "wrongo", "falso", and "untruo". Those aren't even words.

But anyways, I do know what I'm talking about. Most rap artists live in a "fantasy realm", showing them surrounded by cars and beautiful women. And kids are influenced my music and media - greatly. Just put 2 and 2 together.
(if you can, that is)

Yeah, I rappers such as DMX. But Nelly/Jay-Z/etc live in a world that doesn't exist.

It only seems like that when you look at music videos with a closed mind, this is a subject that shouldn't be touched by the community since about 80% of the people here don't understand the concept of opinions and feel that they must correct other peoples beliefs, which in fact can not be wrong since they are all opinions.(I'm surprised you started this topic Dracon, I thought you would of figured not to undermind peoples opinions from past threads, even if they undermind yours. The only reason I don't reply to the guy who you just replied to is because he is new here.)

I agree almost all the rap I see is fake. Alot of rock that I see, however, is real because of the messages that it sends usually are about growing up within a bad lifestyle.

Yes, I totally agree. But from most of the rappers I see on MTV/MTV2/Much Music are fake. But I am not saying ALL rap is that way. Same with rock music. Jonathan had some horrible times in his life, and he's just releasing negative energy.

One rapper I really don't like is Emenem. He makes hateful and very insulting remarks to groups of people, including his own mother, talks in his songs about how he grew up in such a horrable lifestyle, when in all truth he did no such thing and grew up in a loving, rich home. I like to call him a spoiled wannabe.

Yeah, I also agree that he is a spoiled wanna-be - a sell out if you will.

I also agree.

Well, I've been known to start the strangest of threads. I'm sorry to anyone I've offended or anything, but it's my opinion. Thankfully I didn't bring up my concerns on religion - that would have been much worse.

Actually, it is illegal to sell a drug, such as Tylenol, without a pharmecutical(Spelling?) liscense.(From my knowledge that is.) Pimping is also illegal because there is only 1 type of it, and that is where you sell(Pimp) a female or male prostitute(Sometimes fe/and male at the same time, lets not get started on that....) to someone, then the prostitute pleasures the buyer.

I guess the whole reason I had started this is because I've been hearing of all of the negative things music has done to children/adolecents. On the rap side of things, some tells you to do drugs/have sex/drink/smoke/etc. Where as on the opposite side of the spectrum, we have rock, which tells you its okay to hate all/kill/commit suicide/etc.

I guess all music has meaning to them. Some are positive - almost all are negative though.

[edit]Excuse me for my bias comments earlier towards rap music. I meant for this thread to be opinion only[/edit]

I'd like to add another comment on to this -
Yes, most people believe Eminem had an 'oh-so-horrible' life growing up. Where as Jonathan Davis (I'm gonna compare Jon yet again) had an extremely much worse childhood - being abused by his father and mother, seeing things that have scarred him for life, etc. The reason why Jon isn't known for his 'oh-so-horrible' life is because he doesn't usually make it public to everyone, or he hides it within his lyrics.

very few rock groups promote those things, your thinking of metal mostly.

Ok, first, yes it was a misprint. I simply got mixed up between the preventing pregnecy and STDs. Sorry, and calling my comment stupid, is calling me stupid. You make the comment and it's stupid you have to be stupid too, to make such a stipid remark. Xzar, I suggest you go back to what you've done in the past, not posting.

You gotta be kidding me. Are you trying to say music is what makes kids to crazy things in our community? If a child heres a "musician" talking about killing or something to that affect, they must be pretty insane to actually go out and do it in the first place. If they are old enough to understand what a person is saying in the song then he/she is definetly old enough to know the difference between right and wrong; So if anyone is to blame for the negative things kids are doing, its the parents.
