Of course your intelligence isnt muesured by your grades, but if your to lazy to complete basic schooling, how can we expect you to have learned things elsewhere?

Wow, Dareb...you don't give up. We were NOT talking about Funimation or whatever, we were talking about the law. In fact, your post only proves further that you are defending something you didn't say you were defending to begin with! Quit trying to flip to another page in the book, and just stop posting. It's over, it's done.

now i have you.. you have no way out this time.. Im right... your wrong..

SOLICITED!!

To seek to obtain by persuasion, entreaty, or formal application: a candidate who solicited votes among the factory workers.
To petition persistently; importune: solicited the neighbors for donations.
To entice or incite to evil or illegal action.
To approach or accost (a person) with an offer of sexual services.

However.... The donation verb is not solicited, neither is the game, nobody is prompted to use the donation verb, there are no constant messages that tell you to donate, there is no benefits for donating, so those who do not donate do not fall behind, making it so the donation verb is not solicited. Its just there.

Billboards are not solicitation, they are advertisements.

the verb is not much different since its not a service, a requirement or a request, so this ends now.

END-GAME

Putting a donation verb in your game is soliciting a donation, just as putting a donation box on your store counter is. In this case, "by persuasion" is the key phrase. An unsolicited donation is one that comes entirely at the volition of the giver, without prompting.

Billboards are not solicitation, they are advertisements.

But if billboards asked for money, they'd be solicitations. The purpose of an advertisement is merely to get your attention.
However, billboards and donation boxes do have one thing in common: They indicate they want something from you.

the verb is not much different since its not a service, a requirement or a request, so this ends now.

END-GAME

A verb is a lot different from a billboard, and as I said is a lot more analogous to putting out a box or a cup. By making a donation verb, you imply that you want people to donate; ergo, you're implicitly soliciting a donation. People make unsolicited donations when there's no such "hint", but go and do the whole transaction on the hub themselves.

If you honestly believe any of the crap you just said i have a deep sympathy for you.
In response to Dareb
I said I wasn't going to reply again, but oh my God, Dareb...

I can't believe that you're claiming superior knowledge of creative ventures and yet you have no idea of what the practical knowledge of "solicited" is. When you actually get around to trying to get your scripts sold you'll find out. Submissions of written works can either be solicited or unsolicited.

When a company "solicits" a work, it does not mean that they come to your house and go "Please please please please submit a work for publication." It just means that they've let it be known that they're accepting such things for consideration.

Similarly, let's look at the use of the word "solicited" in terms of advice. If you come up and say, "Yer darn fool flying contraption will never get off the ground," that's unsolicited advice. If I had first said, "Please feel free to let me know what you think," then your advice would've been solicited.

By putting a donation verb in, designers are letting it be known that donations are welcome.

When/if your creative career ever goes any further than your business career (As far as you've told us, you have a "business license" and you've had it for years without doing anything. I don't know why you think this is impressive. All it tells us is that you don't have the first idea what to do with it), you will quickly learn the real-world applications of the words "solicited" and "unsolicited".

And since you did mention it, I have made a few hundred dollars off BYOND games and a bit more than that off my writing, so yes, I have made money from my personal creations. Have you?
In response to Lesbian Assassin
if you don't mind me asking lexy, what kind of work do you do? Like if you're a writer, what do you write about?

In response to Jon Snow
and whats your pen name, I want to read some of your books.
In response to Dareb
I keep my BYOND identity separate from my professional writing identity and both of them separate from my real life identity. If I were interested in exposure for exposure's sake, I could use my BYOND game fan base to hype my stories and articles and vice-versa. I don't do that.

Here's evidence of how little you know about publishing... if I had published "books", I wouldn't have made just "a little more" than a few hundred dollars.

My point is not "I'm a mega famous author and therefore I know more about copyrights than you do." You asked if I've ever made money off a personal creation. I answered. I didn't need to mention my writing at all... BYOND certainly qualifies.

I only mentioned writing at all because you seem to think that the mere fact that you're interested in getting your scripts published somehow imbues you with automatic and instinctive knowledge of copyright law to the point that the random, stray thought that happens through your brain must be the irrefutable Gospel According to Dareb*. Well, if you thinking about being a published writer makes you an authority, then the fact that I've had a few articles published must make me a super-authority. If I actually had a published book, then this conversation never would've dragged on this long because I could just post the library of congress number from my book here as proof that what I say is more important than what you say.

Before you try to turn this around, no, I'm not suggesting that because I'm published my opinion matters more than yours. I'm just shooting down your "I'm an artist, this is my livelihood so I know what I'm talking about." rant. Give it up! Tomorrow you'll be back to talking about your business license and how it proves you have knowledge of business. Fact is, you don't have a livelihood. You're just a kid. You've admitted that enough times, sometimes even on purpose. You've never set foot in the adult world, but I hope you do soon... you're due for a rude awakening when you do.

*Isn't this your attitude on everything? You've never
bothered to learn anything in your life. You just let your mind wander, and every time it wanders somewhere new, that's a "fact" you've collected.
