Do you think its "harsh" or "mean" to log out a plyer if they choose there name to be nothing ("")? Its for the security of the game so if that person starts spamming/annoying, a GM can boot/ban them. I don't wanna give my game a bad name of rep because of this. What do you think?

It's justice I say. Just have it ask them again for their name if it is "", or like Garthor said, delete them without having to use GM commands.
If its your game, its your rules.. Who cares what the players think.
Just disallow blank names. You don't need to log them out neccessarily; just force them to enter a non-blank name before proceeding.

Logging them out is also fine. Just be sure to send them a message telling them why they've been logged out. =)
well, you could make the game force them to rewrite inappropriate names or even have a gm verb that targets either the mob name or pagername. It's possible to create variations of GM Tools in order to better facilitate authority.

Booting, Banning and muting are last resorts for GMs that are properly equiped.

yea i did that. Now im just working on disallowing Profane names. Dun want people coming in with the name that is a second word for Female dog coming in and harrasing my game players. thats not nice.......lol

Also keep in mind the Infamous "Guest" name that Dantom had a nice idea for people not of the community to try out your game. But due to the amount of Abuse I got from people using that sign-in I've pulled login access for it in most of my multiplayer games.

Hhehehee...you just reminded me of something that someone wrote out about being "properly equipped" with administration powers, I think Spuzzum wrote it...but, anyhow it had bunch of whicked but yet fun things to annoy and or punish bad "cookies".

yep.. but what i was getting at is most people take their control over their games or what they host too far.

Only in the most extreme situations would I prevent others from enjoying my creations. for people that have annoyed me in the past, their characters will start off slightly weaker than the others, or they may have a mandatory unique icon. but this is the extent.. mouthy people get their globals removed. Spammers have it taken away permanently. You guys make a list of disruptive actions players take in a game and ill write up appropriate consequences.

If a player truly deserves a bann. Keep it to one game only. Being a prick about something only gets people angry and makes you look worse, and i think you all know who i'm talking about.

BTW, just because it's a game doesn't mean it isnt to be taken seriously.. some people play that way. if you arent ready for serious or just fun loving gamers chances are your game isnt ready either.
