I suppose if I dont get a definate answer ill just go ahead and see if anyone says something about it, if they do ill be compliant.

Its legal. The only opposition you should get is people who are opposed morally. Its basically the same as a arcade game.
Ie. Street Fighter. You put in $2, then use the 2 continues it gives you too get as far as possible.
You may still want to stick a warning on it since it contains simulated gambling.
In response to Jotdaniel
Nope, can't do it, that's still spending real money to gamble with, plus, it's not that great, you don't get anything from it except a hole in your pocket, I suggest sticking to in-game money ONLY if you want to stay totally safe.
In response to Nadrew
Are you sure? I was thinking that if they couldnt gain money out of it, it was not considered gambling?
In response to Jotdaniel
You pay for in-game credits that are used to gamble, that's using real money to gamble in the end.
In response to Nadrew
True its gambling in-game, but if people realize that they cant actually get money out of it, there cant be a whole lot of opposition to it. I don't want to know if its really gambling or not, it is, I need to know if its allowed or not.

Yeah, but Im pretty sure that BYOND counts as publishing the games. Im not 100% sure since Im no lawyer. The thing that seperates C from BYOND is that BYOND isnt a programming language.

BYOND is a programming language. Well, DM is, which amounts to the same thing.

If you release a game to the general public (that is, anyone can come along and play it) then that's counted as publishing it.

I could write anything I want in DM and BYOND wouldnt get in trouble, but since BYOND distributes my game they take on some of the responsability.

Nope. Dantom have refused to take any responsibility for the stuff that's on the hub. Their view is (quite rightly, I think) that they don't have the resources to police the hub effectively. Therefore, there's not much point trying. If somebody points out an illegal or offensive hub entry, they can delete it; however, they are under no obligation to do so.

Sounds like a bit of a grey area to me. Just play it safe and only use in-game credit.

*delete*

No point to that game anymore.

Sure there's a point! There's prestige in having your name right up the top of the "Players with most winnings" list!

Yes, but without the use of money to buy credits(even without being able to exchange them for money again), theres no way to control the flow of credits in the game, giving a player with to few credits each time he plays a game, credits will just make it useless.
In response to Jotdaniel
All you need to do is make it possible for people to bet more than they have. So you can start with zero credits, bet ten credits, and if you win then you have some credits! But if you lose, you go into debt and need to win some more in order to get back into positives. Or you can just start every key off with a certain amount of credits.

It's just like ladders for online games, where you get points for winning a game and lose points for losing a game. They don't have to come from anywhere.
In response to Crispy
Its not even betting, if you lose the hand, you lose a credit, and the last person left gets all the credits.
In response to Jotdaniel
Makes no difference, the credit system can still work the same way. =)
