It's the incident where the source code to Dragon Ball Zeta was given to someone who said they would create maps for the game, but then the person distributed the source code, resulting in masses of crappy DBZ games.
|
...Since every DBZer is obsessed with power, and there is nothing more powerful in a game than a "GM", every DBZer wants to be a GM. The easiest way to be a GM is to host your own version of a DBZ game, so every DBZer who's capable of hosting a DBZ game has their own DBZ game. Thus there are dozens, if not hundreds (and potentially 1000+, I haven't counter) of DBZ games on the hub, which means all the "normal" or "original" games get swept away and hidden in a giant mass of DBZ rips made from someone else's source code. Since DBZ floods everyone else's work off the screen, its therefore known as the "DBZ plague", and Zeta just happens to be the current most popular DBZ game to have the source code for at the moment. And of course, every new DBZer who happens to figure out how to program by some fortunate stroke of random typing wants their DBZ game to be "the best DBZ game ever" so that they can have all the DBZers in their game and have more people to boss around. But really, all they end up being is the most "unlike no other". What is more, every DBZer seems to have a swarm of DBZ loving "friends" that they advertise to, so every DBZer that every DBZer knows comes to BYOND to make more DBZ games, then they go tell all the DBZers they know who tell all the DBZers they know, and on and on and on... Thus, 90% of the BYOND community is comprised of DBZers, who nobody likes, nobody wants around, and everyone just wants to get rid of.
So, this thing you call a "Zeta incident" is really just a very small part of a much larger and much more devistating "DBZ plague" that has consumed and will continue to consume, not only BYOND, but the entire world, until everyone is so obsessed with powerleveling that they all develop nuclear weapons and blow each other out of existence while trying to be the most powerful ever. Well, not really, but it made a good run on sentence, eh? :) |
Zeta is the biggest 'game' of them all. Note the quotes.
No offense to RaeKwon, but it sure be boring. |
Fan games are all fine and good (except when they're copyright violations and such). But, if they have to rely on the fact that they're based on something else that's popular in order to be popular themselves, then they're crap games. =P

I hope it's not just because of the anime.. *hides* RaeKwon |

Never played it myself, but from what I've heard a lot of people don't think much of it. =) I hope it's not just because of the anime.. *hides* You can hide. But you cannot run. Wait, wrong way around. Oh well, close enough. =P |

Well, not really, but it made a good run on sentence, eh? :) Oh no, the government accidently leaked the blueprints for nukes, now you can buy them for 2 dimes off the HUB... Oh well, might as well buy them, at least that way I can be Master GM of Canada or something... |
Too late, I already spent 5 dimes to become Master GM of the entire North and South American continents. ph33r my wealth in dimes! I made them by selling RPG Maker icons and the source code to Dream Seeker.

Well, I like DBTC more then I like DBZeta...DBTC just has more to do other then fighting and or meditating. But, DBTC is pretty easily beaten...
