Is it just me or are the only ones that type well grew up in the 80's and below? I mean, if you think about it, most of the people from the 90's use "R=Are","U=You","2=To","NM=Nevermind", and the list goes on. It gets really annoying when those type of kids page me using the worst grammar and spelling ever. I am not the type to nag about that, I could care less, but it does get very annoying at one point.
I hate it.
The worst is 'lol'. There is not 'lol'ing in my Chatters room.
I think the reason behind that is a simple one, we learnt to type when speed didnt matter. Also computers used to be more toolish then they are now.

No, its that the people that type like that dont think they have the time to A) correct there spellings b) even bother spelling the words out correctly.
I guess you could blame it on the mobiles 'txt me bk' but I use full SPAG in my texts and rarely have to abbriviate in order to fit it in.
Meh; foolish.
I was a 90's kid (born in 88), but I still use good grammar. Man...I hate being different. :P :P :P TThe worst thing I probably do is lol or lmao. That's it.

The people that gre up in the 80s are older than the people that grew up in the 90s. So, the people from the 80s could have been using a computer longer and would be faster typers, and wouldn't have to use netspeak. Also, if they are older they probably have better spelling and grammar.

O relly R u Serius M3 2!!1 i just hate ppl that talk lik that!!1 OMG i just hate those ppl.

=P
(I dont appreciate stereotypes that suggest all kids talk like that.)
The only time i use abbreiviations(spelling?)like that or slang(tha=the, dat=that etc) is in AIM or some other type of Instant Messanger. I agree with jinjo, i don't like that stero-type.

Born in '90 myself, but I always use full grammar and puncuation unless a)The post is only needs to be four leters long anyway eg. ROFL or b)I'm trying to emphasize a point about how annoying something that uses abbreviations like that is, eg 'Nu DBZ gam fre GM vershon' (sorry, ripped most of that from Garthor).

lol, I was born in '87, does that make me a 90's kid?
1987, and when I was a newbie, I had trouble with my grammer, but I never was all that bad. I would mispell words but I never used the always annoying "hi do u wan 2 giv me scoarse code?i kno i am new but i wuld tak car of it.pleese?"... Sorry, seems like in every other one of my posts seem I make fun of the horrable grammer kids hehe. Anyways, my spelling got much better after the ~2 years of me being here, though it was never all that bad.

I introduce to you how I would have typed if I had been on here and I was 5, because this is how I wrote when I was 5:

"hI, ME nam Iz CoRE, I GEt om ByONd caz FRENd sOd me it."

Sadly, I think my grammer when I was 5 is better than some of the DBZers on here.

Yes, it is probably so, but umm "grammer" is acctually grammar. Ahh we all misspell words sometimes, its human. I believe a part of that is true. Most of the people my age don't even care about their grammar. I do not use grammar to well at times, but I'm trying. I do ask to be corrected.

You were born in the late 80s and grew up in 90s culture, so yes, you are a 90s kid.

Like others have mentioned, a lot of it probably has to do with age and maturity... Yes, I'm well aware that plenty of younger people are mature (in some case more mature than those that are much older than they are...lol) but in general, age = maturity... It's not a universal law, but it's a very well founded stereotype...

Another factor (related to age) is that netspeak is something "new" to us older people (heh, not that I'm really that old, but I'm a member of the 80's crowd... 1980, to be precise) It is something we see as being new... But, to those that are younger than us, they pretty much grew up with it... So, there's a factor of familiarity...

Another point I'd like to make is that I don't buy the "it saves me time" excuse... I think that it's much more a thing of habit and conformity... Kids see other people typing like that, and they pick it up... And it spreads further and further...
