Whats your favorite reading books, And what are you reading currently?

I'm reading three books currently. Switching from one to another, Which is bad. because sometimes the plot gets mixed up, And you forget info about one book. And know more about another. The currently high-read one is Harry potter: Book 1. Its a good book. Man, Have they butchered the movies. And the second book i'm reading is Redwall. The first book. Once i read the first pages, I thought "Hedgerow hall" And i was surprised to find that Lexy got the idea for HRH from this book. The third book i'm GOING to read, Maybe, Sometime in this life, Is LOTR: FELLOWSHIP. I haven't read one page yet. :P

right now Im reading The Scions of Shannara. Its a fantasy book about Par,one of the remaining few with the magic. He goes on this quest to meet the ghost of Allanon,ex-king and druid. If he doestn supposedly the future is doomed.Right now Im guessing it is because of his magic, the wishsong, is the reason allanon is contacting him.
Try "Enders Game" By Ryan Scott Card i believe. The best book i ever read.

You people should check out some books by Philip Pullman. I've read some of his series lately, and they are awesome. The "His Dark Materials" series is interesting. The books are: The Golden Compass,The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. It is a complete fiction though, which is necessarily bad...

The other series takes place in London, and is about a woman who goes through lots of troubles. The books are called: "Ruby in the Smoke","Tiger in the Well, and... er... I can't remember the title of the last one. This is fiction, but based on real times.

The book I am currently reading is Wizards First Rule in the "sword of Truth" series. It is another complete fiction. Long, 800+ pages. But very interesting.

Im not really reading anything at the moment (Like I need more to read with exams coming up...!), but a few of the books that I have read that I loved:

Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy,
Deathgate Cycle (8ish books),
Discworld Books,
Dragonlance up until the most recent era,
Circle of Magic

I recently picked up Knights of the Dinner Table: Illustrated OverKill. Its book with collections of comics from the first 5 magazines. Some great witty humor.. as for novels I don't read much of them at the moment, but last series I got into was Dragon Lance. As you can see I'm more in the Fantasy stuff.

I must be weird or something, but I don't read any actual books on my own time. I do however, roleplay on several MUDs, and that requires a lot of reading and thinking. You also have to be able to come up with a semi-decent plot for your character. In fact, I think roleplaying can be just as good as reading. It may not expand your vocabulary as much, but it makes you think and form your own ideas, develop your own character. With books, you just read them, you try to understand the plot and what's going through the characters' heads. So, I like to think that my roleplaying "cancels out" the fact that don't read books on my own time.

I'm going back through stuff that Terry Pratchett (discworld), Roger Zelazny (ShadowJack, and the Amber Chronicles (I love the use of Trumps as a transportation medium!)), and Robert Heinlein (Friday, The Cat who walked through Walls, Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Tales of Lazerous Long, etc.) have done.

If you thought they butchered the Harry Potter movie, you ain't seen nothin' yet. The Fellowship of the Ring movie actually wasn't too bad, but The Two Towers was waaay off. And although I don't keep up with fan speculation or anything, I do not think things bode very well for the third movie.

I dont think the third one will go to well. With alll they left out in the second and having the third they are going to have to had butchered it.I was pretty sad when I saw the second movie.I mean they left out so many part and changed parts/

Past favorites:
Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury
The Book of the Night, by Rhoda Lerman (Lexy might like this one)
The Deptford Trilogy, by Robertson Davies
The Dark is Rising series, by Susan Cooper
The Becoming Alien series, by Rebecca Ore
What I Lived For, by Joyce Carol Oates

What I'm reading currently:
The Effective Executive, by Peter Drucker
The Essential Drucker, by Peter Drucker
Good To Great, by Jim Carroll
Built To Last, by Jim Carroll

So my reading has taken a bit of a turn...:) Mostly I don't read enough these days, as the computer sucks up all my leisure time.

Currently:
Hitcherhikers guide to the galaxy collection.

I'm currently reading some WWII Novel, based on a true story from a Jewess girl during the holocaust. It's pretty good, I particularly like the older classic books of the mid 1750's to early 1900's.

Damn straight!

The "His Dark Materials" series is interesting. The books are: The Golden Compass,The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. It is a complete fiction though, which is necessarily bad...

Heh... my dad is a philosopher (he's got a degree in it, I believe), and he liked the books except for the bit about Dust and what it actually is (I won't spoil it for the people who haven't read it yet). I had to remind him frequently that (a) it's in a parallel universe(s), and (b) it's just a story, it doesn't have to be completely realistic. =P

The other series takes place in London, and is about a woman who goes through lots of troubles. The books are called: "Ruby in the Smoke","Tiger in the Well, and... er... I can't remember the title of the last one. This is fiction, but based on real times.

Hmm. I should pick up the last in that series, I only got to read the first two. Very good books.

I have a strategy for dealing with the movie-of-the-book completely butchering the book - I think of it as a different story altogether, with strangely coincidental similarities. =)
