You have to close your game before you recompile whenever you change one of the resources.

Close the game, not the project. I believe the reason you're running into compiler errors is that you're trying to alter an icon resource that's in use by a running game.

here let me explain this again.... i go into an icon file and try to adjust it then when i exit out of the icon and try to compile it comes up with an error saying "unable to write icon.dmi" im not running a game or anything

The exact error message you're getting would help a lot here.

what happened before this started.. did you do something like switch your game info onto a different computer?

disregaurd my last post.. i ran into this problem before. i believe what you can do is create a back up folder for your game.. cut all your icon files out of your game and put them in there. then copy them and put them back into your game. if that doesnt fix it then im out of answers.

well did you do what i told you?..
there is one more thing you can do if that doesnt work. you could create new icon files and import the information from the old icons into them.
