(not meant to offend, just a little fun)
  • 1 Acranophobia - Fear of spiders (150%)

    Arachnophobia, you mean? =P
  • 3 Achluophobia - Fear of darkness (40%)

  • More commonly called nyctophobia.

Looking in the mirror and saying "Bloody Mary" ten times at midnight with the lights off, you mean? I've done it before. Nothing happened. Scared the heck out of me when I hit the eighth repetition, and I was nearly shivering when I hit the tenth, but I felt good afterward after laughing it off.

As for me, I have necrophobia, ligyrophobia, xenophobia, hemophobia, and algophobia. None of those phobias is particularly strong, except for necrophobia. I'm the only one in the house with enough guts to kill something, but even so it's hard. Last time I killed a rat that one of my cats caught, I cried for an hour. And I'm not ashamed to admit that -- squashing ants is easy, but looking a living, breathing animal in the eye when it knows you're about to kill it... it's just hard.

Yes. Bloody mary. I was gonna feed my snake this mouse, but decided not too because it was too cute. I have a heart, ya know!

That was actually quit "newbish" as it is said. And the fact that you make random posts about useless topics.

This topic is not useless. If it is to you then simply don't reply to it. Simple as that.

Instead of just looking through the beginning, because I've looked through this before, here are ALL of my phobias, some worse than others:

*Means I had them in the past 3 years but not anymore.

Atomosophobia- Fear of atomic explosions.
Altophobia- Fear of heights.
*Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns. (not so much anymore.)
<s>Defecaloesiophobia- Fear of painful bowel movements.</s>
Didaskaleinophobia- Fear of going to school. (Actually, I only get this before the start of school.)
Hamartophobia- Fear of sinning.
<s>MazoHobophobia- Fear of MazTekian bumms or beggars.</s>
Hoplophobia- Fear of firearms.
Monophobia- Fear of solitude or being alone.
Nucleomituphobia- Fear of nuclear weapons.
Nyctohylophobia- Fear of dark wooded areas or of forests at night
*Scopophobia or Scoptophobia- Fear of being seen or stared at. (I got over this just recently.)
*Social Phobia- Fear of being evaluated negatively in social situations. (I got over this two years ago.)
Spectrophobia- Fear of specters or ghosts.
*Teratophobia- Fear of fathering a deformed child.
<s>Zemmiphobia- Fear of the great mole rat.</s>

This is not a useless topic. It interests many people to look up the names of their fears and see others' fears.

Really? I seem to have Nyctohylophillia, then. :) I love the rush I get when I'm outside at night in the forest (Er, not that often, just when walking the dog).

*Scopophobia or Scoptophobia- Fear of being seen or stared at. (I got over this just recently.)

Ugh. I have this, for sure. I have to put the cereal box infront of myself when me and my sister are eating breakfast in the morning.

I may be crazy, but craziness is the window to creativity!
Atychiphobia- Fear of failure.

Also, I get a little nervous when someone has a ball in their hand and walks behind me, always thinking I'll get nailed.

Yeah, I am ok if it is with people, but I wouldn't last long in a forest at night. I live nowhere near any wooded areas, but at night, alone in one, would drive me nutts, just because I feel like just about anything can pop out, scare you and kill you, from bears and snakes, ghosts, to men with chainsaws :P I guess it is because anything could be watching you and I seem to be afraid of the unknown.
In response to Kunark
Thats the same with me! I always get sick before going to school.

I have a fear of walkign near people that look like they are threatening. I always get nervous when I see a true looking gangster around or a fat guy with his tounge hanging out.

I fear those big heavy dudes in jail who wrap their arm around you, and say "its getting hot in here" and take their shirt off. Of course they lied. :/

I don't know the word for it, but what I'm afraid of is people throwing around heavy words as if they meant nothing... a "phobia" is more than a simple discomfort or ordinary fear, it is a mental disorder... a persistent and irrational fear that overrides ordinary patterns of behavior.

For instance, every person is born with an instinctive, reflexive action to having your hand near a blazing hot fire... you jerk it back in fear. :P So are we all pyrophobes? No. A pyrophobe is someone who can't see an open flame (or even a relatively closed one) without breaking out in a cold sweat, imagining the fire busting out of control, feeling themselves drawn into it, etc. Irrational.

Almost everyone has a healthy fear of heights... heights present physical insecurity and danger of harm or death. In some people, the fear is a little less healthy than others.. an acrophobe isn't just afraid of heights, he or she is incapable of meaningfully dealing with them, period. An agoraphobe isn't just uncomfortable with open spaces, he or she is functionally unable to step outside. What if you're afraid of these things but

If you can sit here and name 10 or 12 phobias you have, then you're either a) a nervous wreck in need of serious counseling or b) taking your quirks and dislikes and tagging a big long word onto it... kinda like the way people who have ordinary mood swings will read a description of bipolar disorder and decide they must be manic-depressive.

Ok. Then i guess my only phobias would be Arachnophobia and Acronphobia.

I sweat, my throat tightens and stuff when i'm on a high building and when i see a spider i freeze, paniac and even sometimes pass out.

Siientx
I can honestly say that I have no phobias... I don't really even have that many plain old fears, for that matter...

I've adopted a philosophy on life that keeps me from truly worrying about anything... Basically, it boils down to this:

There are only two relavent outcomes to any situation/event:
1. I will live
2. I will die

If 1, then no problems... Life will go on... If 2, then there are no problems that I'll be around to deal with...lol

So it leads me to feel that there's nothing to really fear...

However, I'm still human, and I can't completely keep myself from being scared now and then, or from worrying about something once in a while... But I'm trying...lol

My biggest nagging worry is of what others think of me... I'm VERY self-conscious... In fact, that may be one of the main reasons that I still haven't gone to get my driver's license... I'm in no way afraid of getting in an accident and getting hurt, or whatnot... But I am afraid of screwing up and someone thinking less of me because of it... Even something as simple as someone honking their horn at me if I take too long at a light would bother me...

Or at work, if I were to get in trouble, I wouldn't worry a bit about losing my job... I'd be worrying that my boss thought less of me on a personal opinion level...

Out of all of the concerns that I ever have, that one is by far the strongest...

So it leads me to feel that there's nothing to really fear...

Not every death is nice clean and painless. In most cases I fear what leads to death more than the death itself.

Out of all of the concerns that I ever have, that one is by far the strongest...

And yet you rampantly misuse a piece of grammar when you probably know better. You don't think people view you differently when you do this?
