I went to go see it today and can proudly say that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
Everyone should watch the whole trilogy (and can phase out during some of the second :/ ) as its a great set of movies, I look forwards to the DVD box set of all 3 with funky special stuff like they always do :)

I still haven't seen the second one yet. I'm thinking of going and hiring it today, but I'm a lazy lazy man.
The fight scenes I've seen in clips seem to be just repeats of the first Matrix (Sort of like in a gimicky movie-to-cartoon transfere, how if you say a cool line it becomes your catch phrase). |
I assure you Colonel Sanders never tries to explain anything, hell he rarely makes an appearance. See the makers realised what everyone was annoyed at and thus no party scenes nor rants from the Colonel.

All the critics say that it sucks. I'd dare them to find a better(recent, ie not the first Matrix) one, however.

I don't know...Reloaded wasn't anything special...it wouldn't suprise me if the movie was just eye candy...

I woke up this morning at 4:30 am to go see the first showing of Matrix: Revolutions on IMAX. It was awesome, but right before the climax of the movie (probably the last twenty minutes) the sound cut off. It was probably the worst place possible to lose the sound, because by that time everyone was on the edge of their seat waiting for the Neo-Smith fight to start.
So anyway, everyone left the movie and we were given tickets for tonight's showing at 10:30. I've gone through the entire day today not knowing how it ends, and I'm starting to lose my mind. Also, all of the critics who are giving the movie mixed reviews should be forced to quit their jobs and start working at McDonalds. This movie is amazing, and the special effects won't be bettered, much less matched for a long, long time. |
Man, that is so harsh. I assure you it will be worth the wait, that fight is breathtaking. I just wish I could show everyone how cool it truely is...

Reloaded was boring cause it was building up to Revolutions. Well I think they were originally just planning on doing one sequal. But after seeing how successful the Matrix did they decided to capitalize and divide up the content four ways. Two extra movies, some crappy cartoons, and a video game. After seeing Reloaded it's obvious they ran out of material and filled up the extra time with some material that was probably straight out of an intro philosophy book, barechested women dancing, and an atrocious love scene. I'd figure it would be best to save the filler for the last movie so they wouldn't lose a of paying customers after the second. Or better yet they should have just stuck with thier initial plans and only had one sequal and leave all the crap on the cutting room floor. |
I remember it was announced as the Matrix Trilogy when they announced they would be doing another one. I'm pretty sure that was before the scripts had been started.

I liked the rant from the colonel. I'm willing to bet people didn't like it because he used a good share of large, complex words. I have no pity for these people.

Saying that the people behind the Matrix have made the sequels, the game and the animatrix for money is very innaccurate. Sure, the money is nice, and the money is the reason why all of these studios are willing to pay so much to let the Wachowski brothers do whatever they want with The Matrix. But the brothers themselves aren't in it for the money. They are in it to create something amazing, and to share it with other people.
Part of the reason that the first Matrix was so successful is because nothing like it had ever been done before. I could write a 40 page paper on the religous and philosophical influences in the first movie. I could probably write another 40 page paper on how they combined so many different art styles in shooting the movie, and why it worked so well. Now that kind of thing is hard to top, for anyone. In creating the sequels, the Wachowski brothers have gone all out. This is the first time that a movie and a video game have ever been integrated. This is the first time that something like "The Animatrix" has ever been compiled as a back story for a motion picture. Considering that The Matrix came out in 1999, it's amazing that they've managed to do so much in such a little amount of time. Whether or not your liked the story for the sequels, a lot of thought and effort went into them. Unfortunately, they are somewhat the victim of their own success: they tried to be as big and spectacular as possible to top what was done with the first movie. There is no denying that the special effects are absolutely incredible as well. Heck, for Revolutions they spent 40 million dollars on just the 14 minute fight for Zion. The Wachowski brothers had a chance to do everything that they could possibly dream of with their creation, and have done it. Saying that they were in it just for the money is an injustice to all of the effot they've put into creating something incredible. |
Here's a novel solution... pretend that it's an open-ended story, like "The Lady or the Tiger". That's probably better than actually seeing the ending because, really, after all that build up, could any actual ending measure up to the expectations in your head?

I liked the rant from the colonel. I'm willing to bet people didn't like it because he used a good share of large, complex words. I have no pity for these people. No they just replaced three common words with thier less used equivilent. ergo - hence inexorably - relentless concordantly - harmonious It's like the whole technobabble thing they use in star trek. It's cool until you understand what they're saying and realize how dumb it is. |
Didn't have any Colonel Sander's rants? You know I bet the reason everything tastes like chicken is probably due to the fact that the architect has a stricking resemblance to Colonel Sanders :).
