I'm after a GameCube game, but I have no idea which one to get. My problem is I have pretty much no search criteria. I would like something with a lot of replay value, and multiplayer value aswell.
I was thinking Smash Bros or something. Any ideas?
If you, like myself, define replay value in terms of the opportunities for sherpas and plumbers to assault pokemon with blunt instruments, than that's what I'd go with.

Would the beam sword be considered blunt, sharp, or in a class of its own? Because, you know, it kicks the buttocks-equivalent for whatever you are using it against.
Well, assumming you have friend, you should get Smash Bros. because of the multiplayer action. You could also do no wrong if you bought Mario kart double dash, assuming you didn't play the Nintendo 64 version, it's a fun game that should fit your criteria.

I always hated the beam sword, so cheap.
Metroid Prime is really the only Gamecube game worth playing. I haven't played Wind Waker but I head that was good too, SSB:M is alright, but I'd go with Metroid Prime, one of my favorite games, too bad all Gamecube games aren't that good.

Does that include if you were forced to play against a friend every time you seen her from the week it was released until? Luckly she doesn't have an extra controller for her GameCube*, so I don't get forced to play the GameCube Mario Kart.
(What I'm trying to ask is how come that makes it bad?)

Eternal Darkness. While I've never actually played this game myself (although I've seen it played), at least 4 different people have told me it is, and I quote "The best game on the planet." It's a action thriller. If thats your thing, go for it.

I'd definitely pick WindWaker as one of the best games around, and I work at GameStop, the number one nationwide video game retailer, so I see everything. Metroid Prime is an excellent game. (Even scary at points, at least to the extent of moving around corners very slowly so you don't get your hind romped.) Super Smash Brothers, I own myself, and I've definitely gotten alot of playtime out of that. It's one of those games that will reel you in for hours and hours. However, if you were a hardcore fan of the 64 version, you'll probably only get a good 100 hours out of this game before getting fairly bored with it. But still, can you argue with 100 hours?

Aside from these, the newly released Double Dash, Mario Kart game, is an excellent choice. I've been a fan of both the 64 version, and the Advance version. (In fact I was holding a 23rd place world record on Royal Raceway up until about 2 months ago.) Although from the sounds of it, you're ruling that one out.

Can't forget Animal Crossing. Rather amusing article on EGM's website regarding Henry Hill (ex-mafia) as he plays various mafia "styled" games, like GTA, Mafia, True Crime, and others, disses them, then plays Animal Crossing, and actually purchases it from EGM. It's one of those life "simulation" style games. Oh, and there are some decent Star Wars games. (Some of the best graphical displays of the GameCube to date.)

There are some decent titles that have been released for all systems, Need for Speed: Underground, THUG (Tony Hawk), and a few others. All depends on your taste.

I only own 2 gamecube games, Mario Kart and The Sims, I've been borrowing Eternal Darkness too. I certainly would advise on all 3! They have been keeping me going for weeks!

No, the hammers are cheap.Unless the head falls off, then its really funny.

That reminds me, I need to sit down and finish Eternal Darkness one of these days.

Are you forgetting the home run bat? If you can use it right, with a good percentage for not screwing up your shots, its the best weapon.
SSBM is a great game to go with. Besides the free zelda bonus disk, SSBM is the only other game I own...and pwn for that matter :-P
Red Faction 2, it has the best multiplayer I've ever found, and thats saying a lot, it just barely beats Goldeneye for n64(imo one of the best games ever).

If you don't cheat, it will take you a long time to beat... and thats on easy.

Except that it's as easy to dodge as Captain Falcon's or Ganondorf's punch.

Which, I might add, makes an awesome combination to anything that freezes people in place for a short time.

Well Mario Kart double dash is alot like the 64 version...so if you played it you might not like the gamecube version.

Mario kart doulbe dash is definatly better. More/New items, a new character here or there. I've only played a demo at "EB Games" but still, it was fun.

I have a friend who is deadly with the home run bat. Give him Mu-Two and the home run bat you are screwed, big time.

Yeah of course aside from the obvious it's still much like Mario Kart 64.

Generally sequals are similiar to their predecessors. Super Smash Brothers Melee is a lot like Super Smash Brothers only with a bunch of extra stuff. The same goes for Mario Kart Double Dash although it's some of the difference that annoy me like the fact that when you shoot an item it's launched in the direction of movement not the facing of the cart like in the N64 version.
