Today some of us that play Counter-Strike decided to get our act together and we paid for a server, so I'm now wondering if anyone else in the BYOND community plays CS and wants to join our clan?
We are far from elitist, if you play (Or want too..) we will quite happily have you within our small clan, DuNG. :)
So far there is me, Bery, Havenmaster, Matt Payne, Mertek and probably Dracimor. If you are interested reply, or you could come in Chatters and talk to one of us.

If you have Half-Life already it's a free (and legal) download.
It's pretty fun. If you like shooters you should check it out at least once. | |
I used to, but after quite a few years I went to a point where I just realized that the game isn't as much fun as it's put up to be. I may drop in some time sooner or later, but I really don't see how Counter-Strike can compare to most other Half-Life modifications, besides it having a large playerbase, but just because it's large doesn't mean it is good.

I play cs alot, but im in australia so yeah, bad pings. (especially when i only have dial-up) But the main reason im posting is because i wanted to know that if there was a cs game on byond that replicated cs properly, would anyone here play it at all?

You can't replicate Counter-Strike properly in BYOND. You can try, but it won't end up anything like CS.

I am in fact trying to replicate cs for byond, but only as a hobby for coding. I doubt i will finish or publish the game anyway. Thanks for the responses.

I don't intend to discourage you, it's quite possible to make fun shooter games on BYOND (e.g. Proelium and In the Hood). But Counter-Strike without the third dimension isn't Counter-Strike... it could be good, but the gameplay won't be the same. The gameplay of Proelium and In the Hood is nothing like CS.

I don't play CS, although I do play some FPSes such as Tactical Ops(UT Mod) and Frag.Ops(UT2k3 Mod).

I've actually debated using the PxEngine to try and create a Counter-Strike-esk game, I don't think it would quite have the 'skill' elements but it would be the basic premise of hostage rescue or bomb disposal.
It is pretty well geared up for it. As you can only see peole if they are out in the open, if your hiding in jugles you can see moving targets easier and stuff. It has a sound recognition and already has a few guns programmed in. Shame I want to keep to CotW's otherwise I would try, just to spite thou ;) | |
