If english is not your native language then I'll forgive you, otherwise... spend more time writing so people can understand you a little better. As for your problem.. If you have a newer computer or have upgraded to a P4 I believe, if a P4 or probably newer AMDs overheat they will shut your machine off to avoid being fried.. If you have a newer computer, go send it in to get fixed if its under warranty or you don't know much about computers.. Otherwise..a quick check of the fans or some of that..erg I forget what its called.. Its an insulating greese or something, should clear up any temperature problems. |
If you're running Windows XP, I believe it comes with the "reboot on system failure/Blue Screen of Death" option enabled. Now, this could be the problem, or it could be something like the BIOS rebooting when the computer gets too hot, and you should ask someone more hardware savvy than I. If you do have XP, you can change the setting by doing the following:
Right Click on My Computer, click Properties, select the Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery, and remove the check from the Automatically Restart checkbox. What that will do is cause the Blue Screen of Death to appear whenever the computer would normally reboot when the error causes it to. Sometimes errors are trivial and don't require system reboot, so you can bypass them by pressing any key (usually it's any key, but I haven't had a BSOD in a long time so I could be wrong). If it's something serious, you'll have to reboot. Finally, if you don't like the results, just go back and check the box. |

AMD's just fry themselves because they're too lazy to care when they are over heating.

I seem to remember that some newer AMDs do that kind of thing as well. I think it was just turning off rather than slowing down, but I'd have to check the article again to be sure, and I can't remember where it was. =)

Theres a great movie of a guy playing Quake3, and they take the fan off the processors and the AMD sets on fire :)

Remeber seeing that, the pentiums stayed alive, and the amds died.

You know I had that. The only way I knew how to stop it was to turn it of- put it in the garage, and buy a new one. I tryed both ways before. I knew it was overheating, but I could do nothing that I knew. I got the 'Blue screen of death' and the ever anoying reboot. I went to get it fixed. All that did was stuff my modem. So I couldn't play games or go on the net. But now that I think about it- thats how I found byond- Its graphic content and other things wernt enough to fry my computer. Anyway- gl getting it fixed

AMDs are made to be overclocked for the most part. So they let it get hotter, assuming you are someone who is smart enough to have fans on it to keep it cool. But not everyone does. Pent. are so much more "User Friendly".

I think the newer AMDs get hotter (unless you have enough cooling to prevent them from getting hot), until a certain point, where they shut off so they don't catch on fire. In any case, normally the Pentium 4s are the hotter runners now. :) |

Boy, I feel ripped off - none of my keyboards never came equipped with this, "any key". =\ |
