Of course, I should know never to believe anything involving the end of the world on the internet, but still. I shouldn't have read it. Now I am going to freak out. Badly.
EDIT: Could a mod delete this topic? I guess I'm just a person who freaks out waaay too much over stuff. Especially the end of the world which will probably happen after I die. Heh.

Bleh... Don't believe it. It has probably been hyped out of proportion, or completely made up. I wouldn't doubt either. Besides, if it is true, just don't worry about it, you'll spend your last days not worrying. This isn't in any way comparable to Y2k, although it could just as easily have been started in a similar fashion. Read some of the replies. What I found shocking was that someone stated (It could, technically, be just as much of a lie) that someone had commited suicide over this. Absolutely no references anywhere of Dr.Gartrell speaking of any NEO-impacts anywhere. Just caves. And a little limestone. You should put about as much trust into internet-based "We will all die; While you are here, buy a coffee mug!" websites, as you should the world allowing Coca-cola to place their "Santa-cola" logo on the moon for all to see. Of course if either of those turns out to actually be true and happen, its the end of the world one way or the other. |
This isn't something to worry about.
Do you honestly think "the government" could cover this up? The governments of the world can't get along when choosing seats at the UN, what makes you think they could co-ordinate a planet wide cover up? What you really should do is read some old articles about how the world is going to end on 1st of January 2000. They make sense, just like this stuff, also like this stuff they aren't based in reality. At the end of the day these theories make sense to you and I because we don't know jack about what we're being told. It's like if I tell my Nan that my mouse works by constantly taking pictures of the area underneath it, then comparing the current picture to the previous picture to figure out how much it's moved. The little red light is just the flash on the camera. She would belive me because she doesn't know how a mouse actually works and what I said makes sense. |

On second thought don't read this stuff. I skimmed over the responses and it's not pretty. If you even think you may be a little paranoid* this place will just turn you into an apoc-junkie.
*If you do think you're paranoid, you should talk to a teacher or parent or something. You could also search around the internet a little and dig up some info if you're not sure. Best case; you find out you're not. Worst case; you find out you are. That sounds pretty bad, but it's still not as bad if you are paranoid and you don't get checked out. |

XD even if it was the end of the world, we might all die from age before it happens, right? I mean, nobody lives forever...

There is nothing wrong with being paranoid as long as you don't take it too far. I am paranoid, and I am better off for it (My slight paranoia has helped me much, much more than it has hindered me.) I would much rather trust my life with someone who admits to being paranoid rather than someone who claims not to be.

My guess is that you're not paranoid at all, you just worry about things.
It's like how everyone claims to be arachnephobic, when really they just don't like spiders. Being worried is fine, it's when you take it too far that it becomes paranoia, which isn't fine. |
I wouldn't really believe the world will end. If the website were providing information they wouldn't be trying to sell you merchandise like mugs... Anyway, if you get freaked out, stop reading. If it's your time to go, it's your time to go, that's what I think.

meh, if we die we die, its not like we can do anything, however it will probably not happen, and even if it does, its not like anyone can do anything about it, my way of life when "situations" like this arise, is to continue living without worrying about it, its not like theres anything I can do but worry and be unhappy, so my advise is just to forgot about it as best you can and not worry about it, I've been told several things of catastrophic proportions are going to happen in the very near future, including that an extremley large meteor is going to hit earth and kill us all in a decade, meh... and yes I have looked at the article and it sounds like a load of BS by the way.

Saying its true just because you said so isn't going to make many people believe it, especially around here, where most of us think for ourselves.

Remember Y2K? Absolutely nothing happened. Though this is something different, chances are, the media would have taken hold of this long before the people in those forums. You just can't stop the media. I say it is probably a hoax.
