Has anybody here ever built like a gameroom or a hangout spot in thier house? If so, does anybody know of any good stores that have stuff that I can use? I went to Fort Worth Billiards today and it was great, I saw alot of stuff, but it was a little too pricey. I liked thier posters and misc. stuff, very cool. I have this ex-kitchen in my house where we just have all this junk. I allready have one part of the hangout spot which is VERY essential...the mini fridge!

The room is long, but not very wide. It's 12 1/2 feet long by 7 and a half feet wide. Have any of yall ever tried to do anything like this or know of any good stores?

Thanks

Well, I suggest getting a pull out couch just in case you have company, or are too damn lazy to go back to your room at night. Gotta have a TV with a PS2 or whatever game system you have hooked up to it. If you are into music I suggest putting a stereo in there, and maybe even surround sound. Putting your PC in there too might be a good idea. Pool tables are arcade machines are other options if you have some cash to spare. And of course, ya can't forget about the minifridge. I can't tell you where to go though, cause I have no idea where you live :-/

The room is too small for a pool table. I think just some bar tables and stools and some really cool poster around the walls and the bar lights and the neon light clocks! Plus with a stereo and a TV with my game shizzle. And I allready got the mini-fridge! Sweet!
Two Words: Pirate Bar!

With all that stuff in such a small room, I suggust putting a fan or two in there just incase it gets a little warm :)

Might I suggest some bean bag chairs?

They make some really big ones... You could get a few and toss them around... They'd pass for seating, and sleeping areas! lol

Or, if you've got cash to spare, try to find some of those "video chairs"... The kind that sit right on the floor, and have curved bottoms so you can rock or lean back...

Also, a black light and lots of black light stuff might be cool (posters, candles, maybe even fluorescent paint on the walls or furniture)

And make sure to get plenty of storage (for games, CDs, DVDs, even snacks)... I'd suggest a bunch of milk crates or those "Yaffa Blocks"... That way, there's nothing to build (like metal or wooden shelves), and you can rearrange them any time you want into pretty much any configuration you want with very little effort...

And buy a lot of Scotch Guard and spray everything down in case things get out of hand and stuff spills (bound to happen..lol) It'll help keep stains and such from setting in... Unless you'd like that look (sort of a "badge of honor"...lol)

That's all I've got for now... Let us know how it all turns out!
I recently got my own room in the house(was sleeping in the living room =( ) and turned it into a game room. A mini-fridge, a TV, and a game console are essential, everything else is just a plus. Multiple TVs for other consoles are great so long as you have a place to put them(and money), if not go to Wal-mart and pick up one of those switch dealies. I'm not sure what they are called, but you can plug the RCA cables for your consoles into the back and play a different one at the push of a button. Folding/stackable tables and chairs are good if you're trying to save space, but you might want to get chairs with cupholders(or put some on yourself, which brings me to my next point). Hope Depot is your friend. I want a way to stack my consoles, and still be able to move them around separately. There may be something I can buy, but I'd much rather go buy a long 1"x10"(if I recall correctly, they are pretty cheap) and make some U-shaped shelves myself. Then I can place and/or stack them wherever I want. I got interrupted and lost track of what else I was going to say, if I remember I'll add it.
Look up amusements under your yellow pages and ask for their cheapest arcade machines. You can grab something like a neo-geo machine that can hold 4 or 6 games for cheap. Or some Street Fighter game, as those were made in great amounts back in the 90's.

Hey, grab some plywood (or something nicer if you can afford it) and make yourself a custom arcade cabinet... Mount the TV in it, and make a place below for the game system(s) of your choice (don't forget room for game storage!)... Route the controller wires up to holders mounted on the controller deck (or get some of those arcade-style controllers and stick them right on)

Finish it up nicely (sand the heck out of it, paint it, clear-coat it, maybe even run some neon light tape around the edges or something) and you've got yourself an "arcade" machine that can play any game you've got...

Sure, it's a lot of work for nothing but essentially a cool TV/game system stand...but I think it's be pretty sweet...

Dude, it's 12 1/2 ft by 7 1/2 ft, lol.

Right now I'm sticking to clearing it out and putting some posters. I still gotta do that...lol

My bedroom's only about that size, and I can fit all of this stuff in here with room to spare to move around freely...

I'm pretty sure you could fit more than just some posters on the walls...lol

[Edit:] Well, I suppose my room's a little bit bigger than that, but not by much...

A 6' twin size bed takes up the majority of the length of the longest side of the room, so it must be less than 12' in that dimension... But it might be wider than 7' (by just a foot or two) in the other...

And I could easily fit an arcade cabinet in here... Heck, I could fit three or four... And there'd still be plenty of room to spare...

But anyways, I'm not really seriously suggesting that... Sure, it'd be really cool, and I may end up doing it someday myself, but it's be more work/money than it's worth...lol

[Edit 2:] Whoops, small typo in the URL... I left an "I" out of the "GeoCities"...

Turn off your popup blocker. Stupid GeoCities.

I'm not a DBZ fan, and it's a little too crowded for me, but that looks AWESOME. Nice job with that room.

My firewall is the pop-up blocker, but it doesn't normally conflict this much with geocities(usually just gives me an error). Oh well, guess it's time to turn it down a notch. =P
I'm moving bedrooms into a 11x9.5 ft. And I've decided to make my bedroom a hangout :-P

Check out the [cheap] blueprints I made:

The red is a door/window, the green is furniture. The left red is the entrance. The bottom red is the closet door, the right red is the window. The rest is clearly labelled. My computer goes on my desk, and I have a gamecube and PS2 on the TV stand.

Broken image link. =) You have two double quote characters on the end of that URL for some reason... anyway, the image is at http://www.planetbyond.com/condoimages/35428908.gif for people too lazy to fix it themselves. ;-)

Looks like you've planned it out pretty well. Although the fridge is probably too far from the computer chair. =P

Yeah, it looks good. But there's one problem-- move the window a little further down, so people can't see certain things you'll be looking at on the computer.
In response to Zaole
Well, I would say the window is a static object. And if he lives in a two story house, that is not a problem.
