What's the illuminati? I looked up on yahoo and I got a lame card game and a few sites explaining some of the conspiracies they believe in... But who are they, and what exactly is so signifigant to single them out from other groups?

I'm not an expert (so perhaps I should leave this up to those who are, but I can't help myself), but I believe they are the supposed group that controls everything in the world...

They are an ultra secret society that has agents behind the scenes in every nook in every government, secretly pulling the strings...

They're singled out from other groups because it is believed that they are the group... As in, the only one with the real power... All other groups are controlled by them as well...

Of course, I personally think it's all a bunch of bull, but it is a pretty interesting concept...

Does anyone one have a link to where I can signs up to be one of these "illuminati"?

First of all, the card game Illuminati is recognized to be a classic game, and is quite entertaining.

Second of all, the Illuminati was a German secret society created by Adam Weishaupt in 1776 in Bavaria. His goal was to attract people from the Masons and other groups, and gain political powers. In the end, the Bavarian police raided and disbanded the grouping for conspiracy against the state.

Conspiracists believe that the grouping survived in the underground and gained power - others believe that the Bavarian Illuminati was but a "branch" of the true Illuminati.

Nowadays, Illuminati is a term often used for a "major behind the scenes puppetmaster conspiracy" - see also the New World Order.

Don't listen to me... I am bias against any card games that don't have a jack of diamonds and king of spades in them.
