My friend is hosting my byond game but when i join i get an error which is connection failed for some reason how do i fix this?
Can other people connect? If not he is probably behind a firewall or router? I dont know exactly how to config them, but if he doesnt have a router you could try turning off the xp firewall if he has it on.

He doesnt have a firewall anymore so what would be the problem?

Is he connecting through a router or network? And check to see if xp's firewall is off.

Don't be so vague in your replies. Here is a small checklist you should fill out for our benifit and your own.

- Is there a firewall, winxp or non:

- Is he using a rueter:

- If he has a rueter, has it been properly configured:

- Most important of all, find out if other people can join his game:

Fill that out and we can better help you.

Search for a post in the Off Topic section on how to config routers. The one I listed was for a LinkSys WiFi Broadband router, but can me applied to most other routers.
Its about 3 weeks old now.

The port doesn't HAVE to be over 2500. And if it's in use, DD will tell you.

It is NOT configure correctly.. thats why it doesn't work. There are like 7 things you need to check and make sure of to ensure its configured correctly. Just opening ports in the port forwarding is not going to solve your problem.
Check the Off-Topic area for the post I made, it gives detailed instructions on how to solve your problems.

Here is the link to the first topic, just read on.

Worked for me, of course, it varies for every router. I use a Siemans Speedstream.

I wasnt quite sure about the spelling, but at least I stood by my typo consistantly.
