I took the advice from another forum member on here to get JoytoKey and I love it.

Now I am using a Playstation USB connection, a playstation controller (of course) and a joytokeys program (mapping help provided with my WinXP joystick mapper program).

And let me tell you, playing on byond is 100 times more enjoyable and fun!

Additionally, if you would like to try using your joystick from the playstation (or even SNES), try looking up an adapter online or try a company called lik-sang.com, ztnet.

It's about $10-$20 for an adapter. A bargain if you think about how much a pc only controller feels in comparison.
Yeh they are great, I use mine to play emulators or even legal games like Half-Life or FF8 for PC perfecty. My JoytoKey supports Digitial and Analog directional pads.

Joysticks/gamepads will never beat a keyboard&mouse setup in an fps.

I would normally agree to a certian degree, but with my PS2 controller right now I stand undefeated on a number of online FPS.

Your opponents must be keyboard-only then. I've never seen someone win with a gamepad. ;-)

The mouse definitely holds the advantage in that it's the best and most accurate way to turn a desired distance and paint a bead on a target. It's the next best thing to being able to point the gun by pointing an object at the screen.

Back on topic, I don't really think I'd like a JoytoKey program for BYOND -- I've always found that tapping a movement key, instead of holding down a movement key, is the most effective way of getting around in a BYOND game; if you can see where you are, you can tap a specific number of times and wind up almost exactly where you want to be.

I agree on this, Byond Games dont move fluently enough to use a gamepad.

Works good for me, but you do have to tap the button when using joytokey, which is kinda annoying and kinda good. I can get somewhere perfect, but it is slow.
Damn it! I thought I was the only one to- I mean, yeah, I love using the joystick with Joy2Key! I've done it since the first BYOND game I played...

I play like that using my keyboard anyways cause Im on dial up. If I had bought my JoytoKey just for that, it would of been a fricking waste of money.

If Byond was smoother I suppose it would make sense to have the controller for it, but currently I dont think it does.

Joytokey is free.
