zes i know where it will get me: in reality!

a point she was sorta trying to make is that no matter what you do, no matter how positive you become- timing, chance, and odds are working for or against you, and generally beyond your control.

and there are HUGE social issues that need to be dealt with of before we eliminate "the poor". convincing the poor to work harder is not one of them, since they are often the most hard-working and underpaid class.

As Artekia said, I'm not being negative, I'm being truthful... or another way to put it, "realistic." The person who keeps trying will succeed more often than the person who doesn't... but the person who has blinders on will fail more often than the person who has their eyes wide open.

A second guess is only a bad thing if all your first guesses are correct, and no matter what the instant millionaire self-help gurus tell you... always going with your gut instinct is not a path to success. It's like playing the lottery. The difference between lottery winners and those guys is, the lottery winners don't go on tour and sell books saying "I made millions playing the lottery and YOU CAN, TOO!"

Odds are, you're in for a very rude awakening, if you really think you've got everything figured out. If you luck out... I'll be happy for you. If you don't... well, you were warned.

And for the record, look up the meaning of "positive." Pointing fingers and blaming people doesn't qualify.

If a game has winners, it must have losers. For someone to succeed... someone else has to fail. For someone to succeed beyond their wildest imaginings... many people have to fail.

And when he set an example of his grandfather not getting a job after three applications, does that mean everyone can't get a job in three applications?

He didn't say 3 applications. He said 3 applications a week, for a full year. If his grandfather really sent out over 150 applications and still got denied...ouch. :-/
My comment is: She's a landslide with a city beneath her.

I hate to burst your bubble, but "the poor" will never be eliminated. Never. Not so long as we live in capitalist societies. Maybe not even after that.

Being poor is the bottom end of the bell curve, and you cannot remove that portion. You are still going to lie somewhere on a bell curve, and someone else will be at the bottom.

Assuming what you start with in life is at least somewhat random, and that there are at least 3 factors determining wealth/success, the average of these factors, taken from an even distribution from a large segment of the population will form a bell curve.

I believe that making generalizations about an entire country (one of the largest too) is perfectly acceptable and always correct, and that having any sort of proof would invalidate the whole idea.

Yep. For instance, we Canadians live in igloos, are wannabe Americans, and routinely spend thousands of Canadian dollars to buy a single American dollar.

Yes, I understand perfectly.

Obviously you don't. If you did, you'd realize that no amount of hard work is going to secure your place in life. No amount of positive thiking is going to stop a heart attack, and no amount of saying the word "damn" is going to make your limited world view truth for everyone.

I understand people will not hire people who have health risks and/or elders. Want to know? It's all about money to them, that's it. People wait too long before they do things.

Health and age should have nothing to do with whether an employer hires you, unless the job you are applying for demands certain physical qualifications. Last I checked, the heaviest thing an accountant had to lift was a checkbook. I believe it's down right illegal to base your decisions on those factors alone. Alas, though, there are many reasons an employer could cite as to why they didn't hire his gradfather, the most rediculous of all is over-qualification. But you wouldn't know anything about that.

Kholint, don't call me arrogant.

Then allow me, you are arrogant. You are just a snobish rich kid who's gotten his life handed to him on a silver platter. To even have the gall to come here and tell us to work hard is so byond arrogant, I don't even think there's a word for it. Oh, yes there is. Hubris.

I mean, I am not a damn genius or anything but I definitely know the job market, so never, ever say I don't. I know more about stocks then most adults. I study this stuff.

Ha! That is just too funny. Stocks? Please. The stock market and the job market are not one and the same. They may be closely related, but one is numbers and figures and the other is lives, families, blood sweat and tears.

Let me ask you a question, do you even have a job? Have you ever had a job? Do you even know what it's like to bust your ass and still not be able to buy food for your family? Why don't you go preach this work ethic crap to migrant workers. I'd pay to see that.

I hope for your sake your father makes you work as hard as he did. Maybe then you'll have some inkling of what it's like to be a working-class citizen, and not just some pampered brat who thinks he has the world figured out at the tender age of 15.

Her use was correct, though. SSGX just uses them to end all of his statements. There's a difference between use and abuse.

Xooxer you speak before you even know the answers. Everything you said is what you "believe" and have no God damned idea what you are talking about. Want to know something, you are a fool to think I do not work hard. You think my life was handed to me on a silver platter? Wow, you are so damn low to think of someone like that. You think I am a rich snob? Listen buddy, you better stop your God damn insulting, it's getting ridiculous how you people think just because someone's father is "rich" means the kid has the best life ever. Well guess what? I don't. I work my God damned ass off 24/7.

I study in school so damn hard, I workout everyday day for three hours, I play football, baseball, and wrestling. Do you have any idea how much time this takes up? Oh yeah, and I "DO" have a job. Okay? So don't go acting like you got the damn world figured out when you can't even figure out one damn person. My father does not hand everything to me on a silver platter. Want to know why? He is not like those irresponsible fathers who live in Malibu who give their kids Mercedes Benz as their first car. My father makes me work for everything, and want to know what? I like it! Yes, I do. I would HATE it if my father gave me everything. I'd feel like a damn fool. So do not EVER call me a rich snob.

My dad does not give me $20 for the hell of it, oh no. I work two jobs, actually, on top of all that stuff I have. Okay? I probably work and are more active then you. So how can you just make those things up at the top of your head? Ignorance, that's why. You refuse to learn the answers and make up weird ass stories to make me look like an idiot. Now you look like the idiot. Rich snob? Pfft, I can't even believe you said that. Oh, and if you are wondering, my two jobs are a waiter and an assistant doctor. As a waiter, I get low wage, obviously, and they pay me very, very cheap. I don't want a high-paying job. I would rather live a normal life and just hang out, that's the kind of guy I am. I am a melow guy. Oh, and the assistant doctor, well, I do not get paid doing that. I do it for FREE. Yes, FREE I like to help out the community and others. It makes me feel good. So please, do not ever make up stories like that. You don't know anything about me. Damn, I would hate to have everything handed to me, people like that, I have no respect for. None.
In response to GokuDBZ3128
Well this proves your own arrogance. You do all these things and yet you still have such a one sided bratty outlook on life. I am even going to go so far to say I doubt you do half the stuff that you listed, but if you do, it is obviously to make yourself feel better about yourself. There is no way anybody as selfish and one sided as you could ever go out and support the community just because he likes to make people happy.
In response to Kusanagi
Excuse me? So I can feel better about myself? You have a lot to learn about people. You are obviously not very social.

Oh, and a brat? You think I am a brat? What is this third grade? Buddy, ready my posts. I did not "brag" nor did I say anything "negative" about anything. I was on the positive side in all of my posts giving an example about my father, never degrading anyone, meanwhile, you people stick to the negative side of things and make up stories about what you "think" so you can get attention. That's what it seems like. And a bratty outlook on life? Like I said, I as on the positive side the entire time, saying that "everyone" can be successful if they want to. And do you think "successful" means becoming "rich"? My God, you have a lot to learn. Becoming "successful" does not always mean you are rich. It can mean you are making a decent amount of money to live your life, which everyone can definitely do.

I suggest you use your words correctly the next time you post. Everything you said is completely and pure stupidity.
In response to GokuDBZ3128
(The only reason I am double-posting is because I do not have an "Edit" command).

Oh yeah, and what do you mean you "probably" think I do not do half the things I listed? First of all, they were not listen. They were said in complete sentences. Second of all, do not "probably" think, it makes you look like an idiot. Because I "do" like to help out the community and not to feel better about myself. I like seeing other people happy. Do you have a problem with that? It seems like you do. And did you just call me "selfish" and "one-sided"? Wow. I want you to post once sentences that proves this. Just ONE. Because all I did was post an example about ONE person. That's all. Did I state that everyone can do what he did? No, I did not. I simply stated an example. I am all positive, not all negative such as yourself. I never seen anyone turn such a "motivational" post into a completley God damn life sentencing negative post. It is ridiculous how mean people can be when someone is trying to motivate others.
In response to GokuDBZ3128
Xooxer has been through a helluva lot more than you, so shutup. No kid that LIVES AT HOME and works a whopping 3 hours a day has any idea what the real world is like, so why don't you just shutup while your ahead ok?

Im 14, do you know how my days are spent? I goto school, I get off school, I goto work, I work untill 8, then I go home, and I might relax or play some volleyball or something, then on weekends I do things with my girlfriend that is when I dont have to do extra chores for my parents or something like that.

And I know that it will still get harder. And im sure that a guy with goku [insert shitty combo of numbers here] as a name is a little rich nerd with no life.
In response to Jermman
Jermman, if you read my post then you would know I work 24/7. Like I said, I work two jobs, play three sports, plus I workout. And no, I am not a nerd. I was hooked on BYOND in the early years when I was little. It is addicting and hard to stop. I am no where near a nerd. And what is with the "rich little kid" comments. It's not insulting, that is kind of complementing someone, and insulting yourself. And you don't think I've done more then you and Xooxer? You work until 8, that is not even close to what I do. Let's see:

I get home around 4:25 P.M. hence I switched to a Catholic school (private) cause my parents didn't like the so-called "bad" kids I was hanging out with. They knew we were going to keg parties and all. So now that I get home late, it makes might schedule even tighter. I play sports (football, baseball, and wrestling [one for every season]). So, I do not "literally" get home at 4:00. Right after school I go straight to football practice, which ends at 7:30 P.M. Then I waiter at a restaurant until 12:00 A.M. (yes, midnight). Then the next day I do the same thing, except I am an assistant doctor the next day, working for free. (I either way to be a neurologist, bass guitar player, or a sports player [yes, big difference]). So currently, I am practicing each one of those and studying hard about neurology. You're lucky you get home at 8:00. I wish I got home that early.

And why would you say I "live at home" and work "three hours"? You obviously don't know how much I work, which too, makes you sounds like an idiot. I am hardly ever at home. And do you think I care about being rich? Guess what? I don't! I payed for everything I own. My parents want to buy me things sometimes but I refuse. I've been trying to go on my own since I was 13. It's time to grow up. Don't call me a "little rich kid" because that is just seriously low. Very, very low. Definitely showes me what class you're in. That is all based on jealousy and you cannot deny that. Everytime someone says they have money they get insulted. Because of jealousy, otherwise, nobody would care. You shouldn't care. Am I effecting you in anyway? No. Not at all. How can you say Xooxer's been through a lot more then me? Are you sure of that? I'm not. Neither is he. Don't make asumptions about people you don't even know. Let me guess, you "think" you know Xooxer cause you talk to him Online? What's with the subject title? Is Xooxer supposed to be some kind of God? He's a normal person just like everyone else.

And it says "Did you just insult Xooxer?" Newflash buddy, he insulted me first. He had the nerver to enter the conversation and try to prove me wrong by insulting, but failed miserably. Now you start, and also failed. You cannot compare to how much I study and work. There is no way you can compare. I am 6'2 and 200lbs of muscle. I am active as anything. Tonight, I am on the computer. I got lucky. I feel so damn great sitting here right now and not running everywhere and having my mind in a million different places. And yes, I am proud to admit I am a pretty boy. So what? I'm guessing you are going to say "You right little brat arrogant pretty boy" or something, right? I am just waiting for that, want to know why? I just realised how pathetic you people are, the ones insulting. It is really pathetic. You are the ones who are nerds, sitting there, crying about how low class you are. Not me. I never said a damn thing till' now and you brought this on yourselves. There's no way around it.

You managed YET AGAIN to turn a nice subject into a flame war. It is always the oldbies who argue about people doing it who start it. You for some reason have not realised this yet. If you've noticed, the oldbies, a majority of them, are 20x more immature then the newbies. The newbies should be the ones insulting YOU. It's pathetic, really. Insulting people over the net. I am only doing this to defend myself while you idiots had to start this damn thing. Use commen sense and logic.
