Ive noticed a over all grumpyness in the forums, people getting banned or yelled at for calling others loosers, or other kinds of things, stuff, that, even in kindergarden we wouldnt get yelled at for.

Byond gets more up tight by the day.

yeah, they're enforcing the rules, go figure.

that kind of behavior isn't making BYOND better, it never was, and it shouldn't ever have been tolerated.

Please, there is a big differen between calling someone a looser and calling them something much more hurtful.

I hate how people are always jumping on others cases. In the real world, you cant call the police cause someone called you a looser or a bad word. And while I do understand about calling someone a massively bad swear word, or being a total jack ass, some of this stuff is out right ridiciouls, like my spelling.

Shades, I agree, but when we signed up for these forums, we agreed to follow the rules.

Drop by my house one day and call me a loser and see how the real world really works :P

In the real world, if you don't like the way someone is acting in your home or place of business, you first ask them to stop, and if they continue, you remove them... at least I do.

in both cases it is considered unacceptable by the forum standards. we know of many people (mostly adults) who turned away from BYOND when they saw the childish name-calling, arguments, and flames. this is NOT something we want to promote in order to make BYOND more available to people worldwide. if you cannot handle the community standards set forth by Dan, Tom, and the staff, then you are probably better off elsewhere.
I don't think that the mods are patrolling more often or being stricter. I think that people are screwing around more. Some of our more childish members scared off some of the ones we liked and who kept this place cheerful.

Although not always related, but still, the average age of all the members that actively post has probably dropped a lot. Not that I want to start a fight over preteens that are mature, because I know they are there. But they are also greatly outnumbered.
It's called keeping the forum clean, it's their job. If you don't like the rules of this forum you can always stop posting, it would only help since you're one of our users that insults every person that posts something.
You know exactly what you did, the mods did a good thing by what they did to you.

If you don't want to follow the rules at all, then complain about the rules, then get out of the forums.

For reference; Flick is not a skinny teenaged nerd like I'm assuming at least half of you pictured. He's a large middle-aged man that looks like he could tear a car in half. Please go to his house and call him a loser ;).

(The closest thing to a loser I'll call Flick is flirting with his teenaged daughter through him, but always in jest, he's a scary lookin' guy!)

Got any proof to show us of why we should be intimidated? :P

I thought that was a picture of a Jesus Wanabe from the Bwiki Pictures thing >.> Guess I was wrong...
I for one am glad to see a more visible moderator position. The rules and standards are very clear, as are the consequences of violation. Act like a child, be treated like a child.

As to any "real world" arguments:
1) This isn't the real world. It's a forum. With rules.
2) In the real world guests generally follow the host's rules or are asked to leave.
3) Nobody likes people who harass/insult/etc. in the real world. See the trend?

If anything, I think the mods have spoiled some by being too lenient in the past, hoping people would act maturely.

If you have a problem with the mods activity, drop them a polite note stating your concerns. Don't try to start a thread slamming volunteers working to keep the forums clean for all of us.
They're crazy fascist munchkins.

Give me moderator and I'll beat them up!
