I was thinking it might be intresting to try and create a card game, based off of the Byond Community.

I like the Dragonball series card game, because each person plays with a Charater Card, and each Charater card has a certian amount of life and unlimited skills (other skills would be in card form, and would be 1 use deals)

I was thinking that would be intresting. Having Charater Cards based off of people from Byond. And each one would incoperate skills and stuff based on the person's, well personality.

There, of course would be different kind of cards. I was thinking like insult cards, Byond Bash Cards and more.

What do you think? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Sounds great, Although, Some people could take offense.
I mean, We could have Garthor; Special Skill-Demoralising Newbies :)

Yeh your right, thats why I hope people from Byond will willing offer up themselfs as charater cards, people who have a sense of humore of themselfs.

Of course, the person will be then given the details of their card and see if it is ok with the person in question. They will also be able to give any valid input of what they might want their card to be like, or the special skill or attack they have.

I don't care if you use me.

However, a lot, and I mean A LOT of people are up-tight about being used in games. They want you to ask, which is great, but they are completely against the idea of using them within a game.

Ooohooohh Pick me because I am awesome. I could be a card

See isn't that awesome.

Damn...It came out good in the post creator.

Oh yeah, I think it is a good idea, if you get enough people willing to be a card. But how will it work >.> like it seems weird.

<edit> Muhahaha Now it is perfect, thanks to Lenox </edit>

It would be lame if it weren't humorous, though, so make sure it insues teh funny :)

Well I have a old card game I never completed that I may use ideas from.

Each Charater Card had:

40 Life Points
1 Special Skill: Which could be anything from an attack to a *spell* (we would need a new name for Byond :) )
Turn Points

Bascilly a deck had to have at least 40 cards, 1 of those a charater card. Each turn, the player would gain the written amount of TP (turn points) each turn. Doing specific things, like using a Equipment Card would cost turn points.

Please keep in mind, the orginal card game was a Fantasy Game, where the only Charater cards was a Warrior, Archer, Mage and something else.

Anyways, you could save up turn points, or use them as they come. You are only allowed 7 cards in your hand at one time. Players also had Minor Charaters or Side Kick Cards, so they could have lesser forms of your Main Charater Card. So bascilly you could build up teams of sorts.

So for example, And Ill use your card format:

--------------------
Raawekon
*Picture
*Skill
*Desc
*Rarety

---------------------

I just used Rawekon for fun. His skill, I would more then likely make something Dragonball Related. While Hedgemistress Id make like, bitch slap or bitch out.

But I was thinking, it would be cool to have a evolution system, so a player would start off with LesbianAssassin and then evo her into Hedgemistress.

Anyways, to keep games semi short, the Life Points would max out at 60. That means if there was a card that allowed you to go past 40, the max you could do is 60.

Ive been meditating on this alot, it could be great. If I cant do what I think it should be, I may just got back to the fantasy adventure one. :P
Sounds amusing! I can see it now...

Crispy (Forum level: Moderator. DM level: Knowledgeable)
------
Powers:
Kind to newbies: Recruits an extra Newbie card.
Programming teacher: Upgrades the DM level of the target.
Stick of Bannination: Semi-permanently remove any other card from play. (The card can be reinstated by other cards with this power.)
TEH D4RK S1DE: Powers up into Evil form.
Angry Rant: The only power available while in Evil form. Can remove a Newbie card from play permanently, or a Midbie card for two turns. If used on cards with a larger or equal forum level (i.e. Moderator or above), the rant fails; this causes Crispy to power down into his normal form, and removes him from play for one turn.

Right now i have tiny card graphics for on the map, to be laid out. I was thinking about making a Examine command though, so it may pull up a large picture file, with a zoomed in view.

Good, I havent done anything yet and my head already hurts. :P
In response to Shades
Lol, here's something using "The Crispy format"

Lenox (Forum Position: Da Newb. Experience: very little)
--------------------------------------------------------
Skills:
Newbie-tize:
Starts a discussion with the opponent, dropping the opponents IQ by 60%.
Complain:
Starts complaining to an opponent, causing him/her to fall asleep.
Annoy:
Drives any opponent into a mad-rage from all the annoyance
--------------------------------------------------------

How's that? lol :P
Meh, could be mildly amusing:

Xooxer:

Form 1: Xoox
Description: Homeless bum with a desire for cheese!
Life Points: 30
Picture: Xoox in tattered rags
TP: 4
Skill: Squtter's Rights
Cannot be removed from play for 1 round.

Form2: Xooxer
Description: Experienced bum with street smarts!
Life Points: 35
Picture: Xooxer in Black Duster
TP: 3
Skill: Pickpocket
Can steal a card from another player's hand.

Form3: GOD Xoox
Description: Enlightened diety with the power of cheese!
Picture: Xooxer in monks robes
TP: 2
Skill: Holy Smite
Can remove any card from play.

Something like that?

Wow, this is pretty inpressive. I thought someone was gonna hit me with a brick.

I will have to contemplate how the game will really truely work. Until there, I did the on map card graphics, in case someone wants to play with them and design their charater cards. I'll make big templets when the time comes for that.

Byond! The Card Game development Notes

Byond the card game is a online card game, which plays similar to other popular card games such as Magic the Gathering or Dragonball Z Card Game. The theme of the card game is Byond. Anyone connected to Byond, who would like to create a certian kind of card, or try to publish one, please contact SNickideums on AIM, Shades on Byond Pager or E-Mail him at [email protected]

The card game currently conists of 5 different kinds of card types. We will go through some of these right now:

Charater Card:
The charater card is what represents the card holder in this game. Each charater card is special, and comes with special skills that will always be on hand. Life Points, Turn Points, a picture, description and rarety. Each deck must contain only one charater card. When the charater card looses all of it's Life Points, it is end game for that card holder.

Side Kick Card:
The side kick card is like a minor charater in a story. They would more then likley represented by newbies, IRC channel bots or idiots in the Byond community. A Side Kick Card can be called into play as long as the card holder has enough Turn Points. Each Side Kick card is just like the Charater Cards, but lack as much Life Points, their skills are weaker and they do not have any Turn Points. A Side Kick card also uses Charater Card's turn points to perform skills. If a Side Kick card looses all of its Life Force, it is discarded from play. Only 1 of each kind of Side Kick Card may be in a deck, but there could possibly be different varations of the Side Kick card, which are allowed to be in the same deck. A Card Holder is only allowed 3 Side Kicks out at one time.

Combat Card:
A Combat Card is a card used to attack another target Card Holder. Each Combat Card is only good for one use, unless otherwise noted. To use a Combat Card, a it must be the Card Holder's turn, and they must have the correct amount of Turn Points to use said card.

Equipment Card:
A Equipment Card is a card used to help the Card Holder when nessesscary. A Equipment card can range from a weapon, to a artifact or even as simple as food. Discard Equipment Cards as directed. Weapon Cards stay in play, as so do their effects until the weapon card is removed from the game. Players may only use one weapon card at a time. To use a Equipement Card, it must be the Card Holder's turn and they must have the correct amount of Turn Points to use said card.

Skill Card:
A Skill Card is used in a number of ways. A Skill Card could heal a person, damanage another, or do something outrageous. Discard Skill cards as directed. To use a Skill Card, it must be the Card Holder's turn and they must have the correct amount of Turn Points to use said card.

Game Play

The game starts when there are 2 players, with a deck that follows the deck rule guide lines.

1. Each deck must have at least 40 cards.
2. Each deck must also have 1 charater card.
3. Each deck may not have reacurring side kick cards that are identicle in nature

When the game starts, a coin is flipped, the called side gets to go first. Each player draws 7 cards and begins.
The winning side will now place their charater card out, then the other side in that order.

Phase 1: Draw Cards
In Phase 1, the current Card Holder will draw 1 card from their deck, if the Card Holder has more then 7 cards in their hand, they must discard cards until they have 7 or less in their hand. If at any time the Card Holder runs out of cards in their deck, they loose. In this Phase Card Holders also gain their Charater Card's alloted amount of Tunr Point gain. After this Phase, move to Phase 2.

Phase 2: Play Any Non-Combat Cards
In Phase 2, the current Card Holder is allowed to play any Non-Combat cards, or skills from their Charater Card or Side Kick Card. During Phase 2, the Card Holder can play cards in any order they want, unless otherwise specified by a card.
Any Skill card can be played as long as it is not a Combat Skill Card. After this Phase, move to Phase 3.

Phase 3: Play Combat Cards
In Phase 3, the current Card Holder is allowed to play any Combat or Skill Combat Cards, or Combat Skills from Charater or Side Kick Cards. The current Card Holder may target any Side Kick Card OR Charater Card when they attack, but if the target Card Holder has any extra Side Kick Cards, they may choose to block the attack using their Charater or Side Kick Card, moving the damage to that card, unless otherwise specified. The target Card holder, may also, if they wish, play a Skill Card or Skill from their Charater or Side Kick Card in retaltion, but it may not be a Combat Skill.

Phase 4: Switch Sides
In Phase 4, it is now the next Card Holders turn to go through all Phases, starting from Phase 1 again, unless otherwise specified.

Terms to Know

Life Points:
The amount of Life Points a Charater or Side Kick Card has. When all is lost, so is the card.

Turn Points:
The amount of TP the Card Holder gains per turn. Can be kept for later or used right away. The TP ammount changes with the Charater Card.

Skill:
The special Abilite(s) of a Side Kick or Charater Card. These can rang from normal skills, to combat skills, to nothing at all.

Rarety:
How rare is your card? Are you a collector?

I tried to make it as easy to understand as possible, if your confused, please tell me so.
In response to Shades
meh, use the

tags, and make it so that it doesn't strech the whole page out. Me lazy and don't want to use the right arrow key.
Scoobert:
Special Ability: Karisma, Makes enemie 1/2 as likly to attack on command.
Downsides: Lack of will, 1/4 chance of not following commands.
Other info: Although normaly an overlooked being, from time to time he has been known to make quite a scene. 1/10 chance of doing 3x damage.

Special attacks: Dumb look, this dumb look imobilizes the enemy and often causes them to harm themselfs instead, 1/2 chance of next attack being reverced.- Bad Spelling, causes massive mental damage to those of higher level.(Damage increases with level.)
In response to Shades
Are there going to be large card versions in the game (Multitile cards), and if so, will we get a template for that?

I think it would be a bit hard to fit a picture drawn/whatever into what is hardly even 1/4th of an icon.
In response to Kunark
Sure well, I just jumped out of bed to do this when I thought of it. Hope you find it humorous.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/kuehnau/ Byond%20the%20Card%20Game/Byond4.png

I'll upload the templet I used for it tomarrow, unless someone wants to try and make a better one. These will be for the Examine option I believe.

Edit: The design will need some work Im sure. It was just a quicke.

I'd be willing to have a card made of me. I'd like to see what impression, if any, I've made on the BYOND community. :P
