development software (HTML, PHP, Perl, C/C++, BYOND, Java) - http://www.chami.com/html-kit/
For those who don't have download managers in their browsers.

http://freshdownload.com

You have to "register" it but that's free. Works with Http and Ftp, can resume paused/interrupted downloads, and it even shows a little graph of your download speeds. :)

Nice, keep em coming guys, I will compile a list, and make a page (As well as post the full list on the forums so my site is not the only reference to it). I consider free programs to be instrumental in lowering the cost of the pay programs (because they are normally better.) It also gains free programs support when they are easily found, hopefully it will help them develop and maybe even get better than their pay counterparts.

Something I thought was nice in another community was a bunch of sticky posts they had listing resources to aid in development. BYOND forums could really use some stickies. :)
In response to Foomer
I agree that stickies could be nice, but I think ByondBwicki would be at least better than currently making a thread. (Sorry if I posted this just as the thread died.)
In response to ACWraith
No problem. I don't want this thread to die, it talks about something that I want everyone to contribute to. It was only like a day old anyways, that is not dead.

Do you know where I can find a good tutorial for this?

There is a tutorial button on that page he linked to.
Easiest to use firewall I've found.

There are a few versions you have to pay for, but the free, basic version seems good enough.
Crispy pointed out a good FTP program: FileZilla.

I found a half decent FireFox extention that turned it into a FTP client as well, but I have not had a good run with it yet, but it does use a tab, so it is almost like any other webpage, only FTP.

Sorry to bump this topic, but it's great.
Also, I think you should add:

Music&Movie playback-RealPlayer (http://www.real.com/)

Bump away. This thread is ongoing, and has been edited about 20 times since it was last on the front page. I don't like the real player. It used to(might not anymore) come with ad/spy ware and was rather forcive on using itself for all your media, weather or not you liked it. I have it on this PC, but only for vedio playback in the browser. If you think that it nolonger does these things, I will put it on my list.
In response to Scoobert
Doesn't for me, I can control what it opens with...with ease! And I've gotten no spyware or anything, and I have no protection (not even Spybot, I should get it though..).

I check my "programs" list everyday too, there's nothing new besides the normal programs I run. :)

*goes to watch Inuyasha on his RealPlayer*
