I was recently thinking about starting my game over( my other computer crashed) and i came up with and idea. Ya know how certain MMORPGS require applications that have to be certified, well i was thinking something like that, and you couldnt login until you were accepted. What are you opinions on this type of registration process for a byond game?

Well as to your paragraph idea, i was meaning more like character name, age, specie, class, abilities (from a selection if applicable), and a description of the said character. Thanks for your input, by the way. Anyone other input/opinions???

Also, for companies, they can have one server dedicated to keeping track of registration and the such. Like, say, Billy Bob Joe's company, Xase Productions, wants to host a server for registration for ALL of their games. So Billy bob works on a seperate program for it, they get it working, and they have it made so that the player's registration information is sent to that one server, and everytime a player logs into that game, you can try sending a request to that server for information for that player, if it's found, it returns 1 and the player can login successfully without having to fill out registration again, and makes it less "Stressful" for Billy Bob Joe and his company, so they don't have to keep track of all this information by hand. The server only STORES the information, while Billy Joe's company sets up ONE email to receive registrations with (Billy Joe, conveniently used client.SendPage() and sent email=1 as an argument), so one member wouldn't get spammed by email.
::Out of Breath:: <OFFTOPIC> Heh, the ID on my lunch card is 304305, so they've long passed that :P </OFFTOPIC> |

Would'nt haveing them email me individually with the said info and their byond key then adding them to the "subscriber" list, and using CheckPassport() (sp?) be simpler?

Well..You don't have to do what Billy Bob Joe did :P. I just thought you could do that so you can keep the info for future reference, w/o clogging up your email.
EDIT: Billy Bob Joe could of used DB by Dantom : DB In order to store the information. Wow, Billy Bob Joe wasn't very bright, was he? :P |

He's just trying to help you organize it a bit. On a side note, Billy Bob Joe says "Hi" :P. |
