Because you remind me of the try hards.

Im not cool and I never realy want to be, but what you have said is just plain stupid.

Come to think of it, loads of guys drew on my face on the coach back from a school trip (to the ruins of London, don't you just LOVE Capital cities?).
They could've at least waited until I was asleep first though :*(

Yes, I'm actually very smart, you just don't get to see it online (My least favorite subject is language).

Is what it should be. :P

As my friends and I are fond of saying: Don't let school get in the way of your education.

I keep meaning to read "Why we must disestablish School".

I like the way that the book presents the 'schooling system' - in my mind, it makes me think:

School = Microsoft.

;)
Odds are you aren't in college yet, so don't worry about it. those kinds of people always fail and end up in some crappy 25-30k a year job when they realize that their brown-nosing grades only screwed them over by getting them into a university they can't handle.

And yes, I have greatly enjoyed hearing about people who were 'better than me' in highschool now being dead-end drop-outs working at some shitty low-income job while I finish my degree. It might be harsh, but I consider it karma.

Just do the work and get the grades. If you're not getting the grades you deserve, talk with the teacher. In five years you're not going to care in the slightest how smart some teacher from High School thought you were.

Matter-of-factly, I actually snort derisively at the idea that my French teacher thought I was stupid because I didn't tend to do any of her homework assignments. The reasons behind it were: I hated her attitude; I hated her voice; I found the homework assignments (when I did them) pointless, brainless, and stupid (not necessarily synonyms); and finally, I just didn't like her.

No small wonder that I finished her class (IB French 11) with a 58%. Next year, I moved to the regular French program (French 12) and got an 84%. Her name is withheld, since I want to be meek (and inherit the Earth), though I'll mention that my French 12 teacher was M. Bellemare, who was hilarious, brilliant, and acerbically witty -- but he physically resembled GWB entirely too much for comfort.

This should also be a caveat to Strawgate, however... some people are excruciatingly intelligent, but don't want to do the work because of personal reasons. Sometimes people's grades reflect their opinions and not their capabilities.

(This low-grades-reflecting-teachers thing holds up for me in every subject except math. English 10: 50%, terrible teacher. English 11: 83%, good teacher. English 12: 93%, great teacher. Info Tech 11: 98%, cool teacher. Info Tech 12: 94%, cool teacher. Physics: 49%, terrible teacher (course dropped, obviously). Math: 56%, even with great teachers.

In other words: I'm very coloured by opinions in all subjects I'm good at. Math, I'm not good at.)

Yeah, but if you're not able enough to work with someone you don't like are you really that smart? Your bad French teacher presented the information in a bad way, but it was still presented too you.

Good point; he should be able to handle the stuff presented to him, whatever the quality.

But there comes a point where that becomes unfeasible.

The teacher was being paid to do a job- if she can't do that job properly, that's her own fault, not the student.
We entered the schooling system to be schooled- whether or not you think that spood-feeding is a bad or good idea is irrelevant- we're still supposed to be given the right resources to work with.

I walked out on my ICT Shortcourse due to a rubbishness of the teacher (I could've taught the class, and on far more advanced concepts than 'typing in =SUM in excell').
It's not acceptable.

I'm going to make a generalization here that will probably insult the majority of the forum population, but nerds tend to blame pathetic teachers when ever they get bad grades.
They also use bad teachers as an excuse not to apply themselves to a subject.
It's very cliche but I could walk up to any of my nerdy friends from High School and ask "Why did you fail [subject]?" and I'll get one of two responses. A) The teacher was pathetic or B) The class was too easy.
It's true that poor quality teachres and sub-par schools are partially to blame here, but the majority of the blame falls on the student who decides they aren't going to attempt the work.

Seriously, at the end of the day anyone can pass a class no matter how easy or how pathetic the teacher is. If I had of read the text book instead of complaining about the teacher and mentally undressing my fellow students I'd be a rocket scientest by now. =P

Wha?
Okay, then:

Point out just 1 nerd on this Programming language developer's forum (with a built in engine for tile movement and networked play!).
