Not suprisingly at all. Garbage men work hard, and have long hours. Also, nobody would be a garbage man if it didn't pay alot. Think about it. Have you ever seen a little kid who says, "When I grow up, I want to be a garbage man!"?

Also, think about it, you get up early and end early. Then you are done for the rest of the day =P.

I said Marines not the millitary in general. The millitary is cool, especially AF and Navy. The marines turn most of the people I have met who went there psycho. I only used my uncle as an example b/c he was the first one I thought of offhand since he is related to me and I am doing a Genealogy report.

Um, I am kind of confused. Is your uncle psycho? If he is you didn't say that you just implied it with due to your terrible grammar. Also, you really are not being cool by stereotyping people who risk their lives for you.

Psycho was just a generalization. It's colloquillism (sp) here for anyone who overdoes anything. He is way strict and every time his daughter (before he lost custody) messed up he gave her push-ups (at least 15, sometimes up to 50 or even 100) and grounded her for forever. I know several who the strickness up the marines turned the into a cold hearted, strict sobs.

What do you think a stereotype is, James?

Garbage men have long hours. They have to work at the dump too. Their job isn't over when they stop collecting garabge for the day.

Ugh. I mean the word psycho is a generalization meaning you have overdo something (ie. Neat freaks are psycho, superstict people are psycho, preps are psycho (they overdo too many things too name), etc.)
And yeah, I'm sure a few marine people may come out just fine, but nearly every one I have seen or met bring strictness to a psychotic level.

Hm, you might mean that their kids could end up with authoritarian personalities.

And that's a bad thing. I have a 'friend' with such a personality, and he uses *me* as the scapegoat (he's considerably more muscly and taller), going psycho and trying to intimidate me.

Here's a little on it:

Obviously not all military-trained parents will have kids with that kind of personality, but it's far more likely to happen than if the parents were 'tripped-out hippies'.
During the times of Nazi Germany, an authoritarian personality was often assumed by many people.

No. I recommend you to not discuss things you do not understand. Basically you fail this discussion because you tried using a stereotype which would hurt and affect many people. Also as Wizzy said, learn what a stereotype is.

Oh =P. Whoops. Well I know in my town they only pick up the trash once a day...so I guess that is good =P.

How many marines have you seen? How many have you met? For that matter, how well do you know them?

My town too, but Nightwing, garbage men still have to work at the dump every day.

I worte a few posts ago:
It's colloquillism (sp) here for anyone who overdoes anything.

colloquillism(sp) is like y'all. One area of a country/state/town say it or say it with a certain meaning but the rest don't. I am sorry if the version of English I was raised speaking is not universally used. Of course, no version really is.
In response to Jamesburrow
Dude, you are still wrong. That is like saying if you are grown up learning racial slurs and then going out and saying them it's okay.

We're not arguing against the meaning of the word, "psycho". People say it that way where I live too.

We're arguing against your generalization/stereoptype (The two words are synonymous).

Well, one of my uncles were in the marines, my last year science teacher used to be ( and i spent detention with hime evry day, so i had plenty of time to get to know him), and the JROTC teacher, whom I'll be stuck with next year used to be. I know a few others, but I don't stay around them b/c I don't like the fact they yell orders in your ear and expect you to drop everything to do it.
In response to Jamesburrow
Alright, they are teachers. You do not know your teachers personally usually. They only have one thing on their mind, making you have good grades so they look good in the eyes of the board of education. That is only 3 people out of...how many people are marines? At least 10 thousand right.

N1ghtW1ng was telling me I was using the word wrong. That's why I pointed it out. Now, does it really matter that I speak out against joining the Marines? Personally, I think that the Navy and AF are better and I do not like most people who were in the Marines b/c the marines are the strictest part of the millitary and that tends to rub off on the people who joined and were there for a certain amount of time.

That's three people. That's like saying, "I know three Japanese people, and they're all stupid, which means that most of the japanese race, if not all, is stupid too!".

You can't judge an entire group of people by observing a small portion of the group.

My 8th grade health teacher was an ex-marine, and he wasn't strict at all! Perfect counter-example. He gave us so much extra credit, that by the end of the year, the lowest grade in the class was 96%, and the highest (me) was 563%! He never yelled once, and the few detentions (two of them all year for the entire class) he handed out were for good reasons.
In response to N1ghtW1ng
uhmm.. It's not only the students who think so. Several parents raised complaints about his unorthodox behavior and the fact that he would refuse to let you in class for a week if you ended up late just once.
In response to Jamesburrow
So, maybe he picked up some habits, I am not saying he didn't. I did say you are stereotyping the marines! You know 3 out of the thousands of marines, therefore you fail. You also do not know them personally! You do not know what kind of family they grew up in, or if there was any kind of problem that resulted in them acting that way.
