I live in a house with 1 computer shared by 6+ people (including 2 older brothers whos friends are like always here). When i host with dreamdaemon, I can only minimize it to the taskbar, where it is likely to be closed. Im requesting a "hide" function, so the only trace of daemon is a small icon next to the computer clock (whats that part of the taskbar called?). Anyway, i think this function would help many.

The system tray.

Sounds useful, although I wouldn't call it urgent. =)

I used to have an external program that would hide programs from the taskbar and systray. I don't know what it was called but if you do a bit of searching on the internet I'm sure you could find it.

Although I seem to remember this being one of those 'requested since the start of the BYOND era' things.
I think it would be VERY useful for dream Daemon to have two options in the next update,
1) Having it so where it can minimize into your menu (not the main one, the one on the right of your taskbar) this would make hosting on your personal computer MUCH MUCH easier because you won't be annoyed with it being visable all of the time.

2) Having it so where it automaticly opens Dream Daemon and hosts whatever you have told it to host (mabe have like an option "Set Automatic Host" and then type in what you want to host (path), what port, etc.)

I WISH WISH WISH this would be in the next upcomming verson.

Use one of the versions for a unix-like system, like Linux or BSD for hosting.

Why should Dream Daemon handle that? Any decent OS has a task scheduler, and Dream Daemon can take any of those options you mentioned as command line parameters.

Well I don't feel like installing linux OS to my "PERSONAL" computer, but I would like that to be added.

there is a freeware program for windows that allows you to minimize any program to the taskbar. google for it, or search through snapfiles.com

I've come across dozens. I prefer traymin. There's a couple free versions out there, but Im pretty sure the new ones cost $.

I found this little program about 2 weeks ago, And have been testing it seance. It uses a little under 2k of memory and can minimize any program into the tray. For me thats thunder Bird and DD :).

"B.W.S." stands for "BYONDscape World Service". Basically, it's a method through which you can submit thngs to BYONDscape that you think the entire BYOND community should know about.

Dream Daemon, actually. It's the third program that comes in the BYOND Suite. Its function is game-hosting, but Dream Seeker is now capable of hosting too.

I think he was just saying how Xzar mispelt it.

But dream deamon is for dedicated servers, ;p
