I want one of the two, and have enough money for both. This is what I have to back up both, Ipod hold more songs, is smaller, lighter and comes with warentee (sp?). PSP plays dvds, [less] music, games, music videos. Costs 50 dollers less, but cost more if you buy games or other things needed (memory chips). What do you guys think?

I would get a PSP, since you can get the memory duo sticks in a size from 32MB to 1 Gig.
Thats more then enough to carry pirated movies, music and games on it. Not to mention the development aspects, I cant wait until people start to dev. emulators for that thing. Chrono trigger in my pocket? hell yes. Ipods are crap. End of story. =/ | |

That's how it became popular in the first place (you know it's true, because normally stuff from Apple enjoys a 3% market share at best). I've been wanting a player with gapless playback (I'm in the 0.1% who care about that) so I've been researching other players, but nothing comes close to the iPod in ease of use and integration with your music library. THAT's what sucks about the iPod - it's too nice so I can't bear to use something else. :) | |
This really depends on what you want.
The PSP isn't really that great for playing music because memory cards for it are very expensive right now. So, if you want lots of space for a lot of MP3s, you'll want a iPod. If you want handheld gaming device that can play music and videos, get a PSP. | |

I noticed this when listening to Scenes from a memory and other albums where the songs are meant to flow together. That doesn't bug me that much though, as I normally listen to it on shuffle anyway. I bought mine on ebay for 210 dollars. It's a 20 gig, 2nd generation iPod, and it came with a cover, a sports case, a firewire card for my computer, and an iTrip for listening to it on my car radio (VERY awesome). Shipping was free. I'm extremely happy with the purchase. I'm actually thinking of getting a new iPod and giving this one to my girl friend, because she really likes it too. I wish apple would combine all 3 available iPods (discluding the mini) into one. There is no need to make an iPod photo, and iPod shuffle, and the regular iPod. I like the features each one offers, but I would never buy all 3 of them. | |
I think what he needs to ask himself is this...
Does he want to pay $300+ for a music player? Or pay around the same amount for a multi-media player, which supports much more then just mp3s. | |
If somoene is interested in buying something just for music, why buy something that has 35 other things as well? There's still also the fees of the memory sticks on the PSP, too.
Anyhow, if someones wants to have a carry-around for music I would say the PSP is not even in the menu. It's much larger, and I don't know how it works, but I doubt it would be as easy to switch between songs without actually looking at it. The IPod is small enough to fit in your pocket and light enough not to cause a fuss. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy either the PSP or the IPod simply because I don't have the money and neither appeal to me very much. | |

Sounds like a case of a bad salesman not a bad iPod. I'm stuck on Windows ME (which iTunes doesn't support), but I managed to get my mini working through WinAmp.
I don't think the Windows 98 problem is as simple, but I'm pretty sure I seen a ton of guides to setting up an iPod with Win98 when I was trying to set mine up. Getting it to work as a storage device is pretty easy. I'll admit I've only ever transported a few photos with it, but it wasn't hard. I've got a USB memory stick so it wasn't a selling point. | |

The PSP plays DVDs? I thought it played Sony's UMD format. I would not suggest one if the focus is on collecting media. [Edit: Er... I mean the non-interactive kind.]

In my opinion, the UMD is Sony's newest way of making you by the same thing you already have but in a different format. They seem pretty fragile too. Of course, if the games that are going to come out for the PSP interest you, then by all means, go for the PSP! The iPod, in my opinion, is, for the average listener, a waste of $290. A discman only costs $10, and an iPod costs 300. One might say that an iPod holds more music, which is underniably true, but discmen can play mp3s too, and a CD can hold about 200 of them. If you're going to routinely be listening to more than 200 mp3s at a time, then go for the iPod, but if not, then you may be wasting your money. One might also say that an iPod is smaller, which, again, is true, but that alone can't possibly be worth your $290. | |

If you're planning to go on a trip away from some place where you would be able to swap CDs, then the battery'll probably run out before you get through an eighth of the music. | |
If you're not going to get the PSP, don't get an iPod.
Get a Dell DJ. I love mine.
