Say Im going to have a spaceship, and each level of this spaceship will be 50 x 50. How many levels should there be too that spaceship? And what types of sections would people like to explore?

Both of these questions completely depend on the type of game that you're making. Tell us about it!

Well basically just think of it as an aliens shoot-em-up. Very sort of generic with the whole "Your a Marine, save the world".

The space ship Im thinking of is going to be infected with the alien forces and Im just trying to gather area ideas that either excite or terrify people when it comes to aliens. Basically the ship is meant to be a civillian science vessel that has some disturbing "secrets".

Looking back on my other post I probably should have said that!

So yeah any ideas for areas (like a geo-dome style garden area for example) are welcome!

Well, if you're going to have disturbing "secrets" in a tangible form, then fill the ship with secret doors and things for the explorer type player to find.

Idea taken on board. The secrets are meant to be in plot form but I can see the merrit in having tangible secrets for the player to discover (maybe a discover your own plot theme?).
Umm your prolly gonna need stuff like main engineering, science labs, kitchen, armory, bridge, cargobay, shuttlebay, crew quarters, lots and lots of corridors, maybe even a few turbolifts.
As far as a civilian sciance vessel, I wouldn't put more than 5-7 decks on it. You would probably be beter suited with a rectangular map grid instead of a 50*50 square, ships are most often longer than they are wide. Personally I would go with maybe a 30-35*65-75.
If its a military warship ship it would probably have as many as 15-27 decks depending on class.

That being said a (science) space station which would have all of the same sections would be only 4-6 decks deep and have a more square shape.

No prob man, just glad to help. and unlike code problems I know a lot of stuff about space ships. If you have any more questions just ask. bobb_01@hotmail if it helps.
