You don't remember how at one time, every computer system had "IBM compatible!" on it? This is because the build that the newer systems use(maybe IBM owns the ATX-style, I'm not sure what), IBM owns. So, if companies wish to use their format, they have to pay IBM. I'm not sure on the exact details, maybe someone else could fill me in.

The Nintendo R all the way.
I have always loved Nintendo and Ive only been rewarded with the love I have for them, Nintendo has never screwed me over. In the past, Nintendo has indeed lacked a Adult pool of games, for teens and adults. And they have also lacked 3rd party support. But whats wrong with that? Look at the Xbox, currently, there is a very large support for adult and teen games. But most of them are the same, consisting of killing, killing and killing. Then with their open policy on 3rd party games, we have gotten a slew of cheap, sleezy adult games on it. Who the hell, wants to even pay $10 for a Bargin Bin Xbox game that shows you digital breasts when you win a game of Pong? COME ON. I had little respect for Xbox to begin with, now i have almost none. Now, Nintendo has been showing us the love, with more and more adult and teen titles, with GOOD game play, and mature content to feed even those brainless players who think mature = good, kiddy = bad. Sony has usually been good to me in the past, but their ignorance pisses me off. A Exuctive actully made the comment. "The Sony PSP is deisgned for the Teenage and Adult makret, while the Nintendo DS is designed for the Kids." The Sony PSP is designed for the rich market. I own both a Nintendo DS and a Sony PSP. The PSP looks awesome, its power is unsurpassed. Its games also cost a good $10-$20.00 more, the batter life STILL stinks, all of the accessoires cost an arm and a leg (There is a surround sound set up for the PSP, only $175.00!). When you compair it to the DS, which is designed simply for portable game play, and a price that is affordable, its hard to choose. Currenlty right now, both of these systems have a crappy game library, and I think they both need to pick up the pace. For next gen systems, I will defaintly look at the PS3 and the Nintendo R. The PS3, because Sony has usually always had a good, rounded collection of games, and because its rumored it will play PSP games, which means I can get rid of my Sony PSP. The Nintendo R, becuase I simply trust Nintendo. The system is sleek, its cool and its small. Not only that, they have listend to their fans since the Gamecube and enchanced the system on what WE want. Not only that, it will also be featuring a onlnie ability to download games. (They havent mentioned what yet, the community as a whole feels it will be like Nes, Snes and N64.) Alot of people bitch about this, why pay for Roms bascilly? I love Nintendo, and would be willying to pay $1-5 a rom if if helped support and grow Nintendo. |

The only Nintendo products I like are the N64 and Nintendo DS, as well as the Zelda series, but aside from their love to give users what they want, their hardware is rather unreliable. I know that their cartridge system was horrible and often broke, not to mention if you get a single scratch on these tiny CDs (which are being distributed as well, I might add), they refuse to work afterwards. However, these Nintendo products are speeding up, and I'd choose Nintendo over Microsoft anyday, or at least now I would.
Sony has a great trust within me. Their only problem would have to be.. CD drives. Their CD drives for the PC do not last very long, but other than that, they are extremely efficient, which makes me wonder why they aren't a German company. Everyone knows Germans specialize in efficiency, but whatever. I've loved all of their systems and the games that came out for them.. at least the ones I have played, which would not include any thing like "Zak and Dexter" or "Ratchet and Spank" or whatever their names are. Also, these were the first people to have used CD-ROMS to play games other than a PC. Of coarse, I'm not very big on Microsoft. One thing I hate about hardware and software would be slow speeds, but luckily for those who love 3MB RAM, and all it's slow wonders, Microsoft continues to deliver that to us. However, their XBOX was a fairly nice system. Might as well be the first to have online games aside from PC games. You can also believe that if Sony does something great, Microsoft will try to follow in their footsteps, or sort've mimic what they have done. After all is said, I'd put the PS3 at the top of my wish list. But, to have a choice between Nintendo and Microsoft, I'd choose Nintendo, where as Microsoft falls into last place. |

I have never heard of anyone having such problems with N64 cartridges. The only Nintendo system that was unreliable and ever broke was the NES. On the other hand, I hear too many complaints about Sony's system and CDs being unreliable; but I won't say it is as a fact since I don't know first hand. Also, these were the first people to have used CD-ROMS to play games other than a PC. Nope, Sega had a CD system long before Sony did. Barring PC, Sega was the first major company to use a CD based system. FYI, it was the SegaCD. |

Why are you insulting Ratchet and Clank and Jack and Daxter? Both of those games/series have got to be some of the best action adventure games I have EVER played.
Aside from that, I dont really understand how you can say shoddy Nintendo Products.. I have Nintendo stuff from the 80s that still work like they were just taken out of the package (games, hardware, controllers.) Not only that, their hardware can take a beating, there was a site I was on, that fetaures abused Nintendo harware, from a Gameboy that survived a terrible apartment fire to a Nintendo Gamecube beng dragged on the ground, chained to a car. One time I left my window open over my Gamecube and it rained, filled my entire Gamecube tray up with water, I had to dump out the water and let my cube dry, played perfectly. Nintendo games/hardware/stuff has got to be the most dependable, more strong stuff I have EVER seen. Sony on the other hand releases terribly shoddy, cheap buggy hardware and even games. Last year they put out a demo disk that formatted your Sony PS2 memory card. Sony made up for it by trading the bad demo disk for a free (bargin bin) PS2 game. When the PS2 was first released in North Amercia, they had shoddy laser eyes installed and a bad OS. A large portion of them had to be returned. The Sony PSP's first wave of system had the case cut improperly, so some buttons got stuck, or didnt respond. Buyer's dual buttnon (I forget what they are called, under the D-Pad) fell off out of the box. The Sony PSP OS system has flaws, and can lock up, freeze during gameplay or after when you hit reset. The first wave of Jap Sony PSP had a hardware, power mangement and OS error that had to be fixed. Tons of bad pixels, even now with the North Amercian and UK launch. Sony Sucks when it comes to good hardware or even software. |
I'd probably go with the PS3 because of the games (if they stick with the system) and alleged system power. (It would be nice to have a console which gets the best versions of most cross-platform games.) I still think the shapes of the plastic covering the console and controller are junk though.
The Nintendo Revolution's support of old titles makes them a close second. Nintendo will finally have a large enough home console library to be worth a purchase again. I'm not particularly interested in the Xbox 360. Right now, it has neither the games nor the alleged power to interest me. It has more Xbox Live, which I don't care about because usually I don't care about playing online, and more DirectX, but I'm not planning to develop for it. Naturally, everything is subject to change when the systems and actual games come out. I'm not sure why I'm bothering to post on the subject this early. |

My main disappointment in the PS2 was the fact that my brother lives here. Why you say? He tore the bay door off of every PS2 I've owned. After that happens, dust begins to collect and if it gets into the laser reader, your PS2 is ruined. If you open it you void the warrenty, but I done it anyhow and cleaned it -- read up and air dusting it doesn't help. What are your options? Pay $120 to get a new laser reader and cost of repair or get a new PS2 for about the same price. =\ |
Q: Is Revolution "two-to-three times more powerful than GameCube"?
A: USA Today reported this news based on a comment from Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs, Perrin Kaplan. The information was later determined to be false. We do not yet know how much more power Revolution wields over its predecessor. This was posted on the IGN's offical Nintendo R FAQ and Guide section. This means the old rumors are false, and it could very well be as strong, stronger then the PS3. Currently a man, who runs a blog, rumored to have worked with Nintendo is slowly leaking information on the Nintendo R. Some of his rumors are proven false, some of them true, its 50/50 right now, and its hard to tell if hes legit or not. But we hope it is, he is saying that the Nintendo R will have dual processors as strong as G5 or something. [URL=http://onlynintendorevolution.blogspot.com/]Insider's Blog? Hardware preformance
1- Xbox 360 2- Ps3 3- Nintendo R. Xbox is going to be 3 times better than NR and 2 times better than ps3. And guess what before you ps3 and NR fans start halloring. I think you should know im not even a freakin xbox fan! Ive been playing all systems since they began. I like pss the most. But xbox is going to come away in the end. Microsoft can not be stopped. And it is hopeless for Sony and Nintendo to even try. So sorry nintendo fans but it is the truth your new system is screwing you. |

Where did you get these facts, from what I've seen the PS3 will outperform the Xbox 360 by 2 times as much.

And the simple fact that the XBox 360 will be released before the Revolution and PS3 are even done is a baaad thing, now Sony and Nintendo get to play with the competition before release AND have time to add more to their systems as a result, way to go Microsoft!

The processor on the XBox 360 exceeds PS3s cell processor in everything except floating-point operations, in which the PS3 is two times better.
Everything else in the PS3 owns the XBox 360 hands-down. |

Hardware preformance Your an idiot. For the most part, there is only specualtion for the Nintendo R, so the fact remains is, you nor I have ANY idea how strong the Revolution will be. Since the Nintendo R will be out after the Xbox 360, it could very well be, it might be stronger. Just because Microsoft is a software giant, does not MEAN they will become the only home video game solution and stomp out all other competition. Ever hear the saying the bigger they are, the harder they fall? Did you know, for the most part, MS actully lost money on the Xbox? For the most part, I dont care for my Xbox, its big, bulky, and fragil. We were over at my friends house one time, and he slapped the slide of his Xbox and it started to make these weird sounds, and now smoke pours out when ever he runs it for more then 30 mins. Besdies, Nintendo had a point. There is going to be a line, when you just cant enchance a game anymore with sheer horse power. Theres going to be a time, when you can get as realistic as you can get, and then its not going to matter. Quite personally, the power of the current systems is good enough for me. How much better are these games going to look on the Xbox 360, PS3 or the Nintendo R? Will there even be that much of a differance? I dont think it will be that noticeable. Just because a system is powerful does not mean its going to crush everyone in the market. This has been proven time and time again. |

Well I dont' really care what console "wins" it doesnt means which one is da best, it just means who suckered the most ppl into buying their system(Nintendo rakes in da cash from non-suckering). Either way, I'm planning on gettin a Nintendo Revolution because of its games(not gta and twisted metal knockoffs, or games that think they will be a hit becuz of cursing and gore{ie. Bad Boys II game}), not its power. There have been plenty of games that look horrible but have good gameplay(not sayin that NR will have sorry graphics).
