Not nessesscarly, if youve become a big fan of a certian theme or game title like I have, Nintendo's only games dont usually show up on PC.

That is through no fault of the PC's, but rather is the fault of the game company. That in no way makes the system any more comparable.

Whether each system has good games all of its own is an entirely seperate issue, and one that is usually not worth discussing since every system has its good games.

I disagree with you.

Well, not really. I know I wouldn't buy a gaming console if there were no games I wanted to play on it. =)

(Note that someone else's definition "good games" does not necessarily equal "games I want to play".)

That said, I'm sticking with PC for the foreseeable future. I need to have one for non-gaming purposes, and I don't actually play games that much anyway. =)

You're all forgetting something very important...

BYOND isn't for XBOX 360, PS3, OR NINTENDO REVOLUTION!!

Ha! Case closed.

I don't know if any Revolution specs have been released yet, but it looks to me like all these new consoles are just PCs with pretty designs and controller input.

While that's a bit depressing, I guess BYOND could easily be installed on one...maybe. If you could get Windows on one too. :/

I mean, it'd suck to use the insane power of the consoles to run a Roguelike. ;p

You can put byond on the x-box. Thanks to linux.

THANK YOU!!!! I'm going to have some fun with this.

Actully Zelda Classic got a cease and disist order from Nintendo. So while, you probly can still find a place to download it.. Dont expect to find any direct links on the web site, or the links may be broken... And dont expect any updates.
In response to Shades
Well, it doesn't look like they followed the cease and disist order. The community is still up to date, and the download links seem to work. My comp is slow, so I don't have the time to completely download it, so I don't know if it actually does, but oh well.
Sure, the BYOND community looks like it actually might have a better reputation, but the ZC community looks like it has more fun!

[EDIT]
I asked the community about the cease and desist, and this is what I got as an answer. Apparantly, Nintendo knows about ZC but they don't care and no such order has been given.

While I personally haven't played too many of the custom quests, the ones I particularly enjoyed were "The Unofficial Third Quest", "A Link To Another Dimension" (it's a rather creative Zelda 1 version of LttP), and "Link's Birthday". I've messed around with the quest editor for a long time but I've been amazed with some of the things people come up with.
In response to Sarm
Sorry my bad, I read on a Abandonware site that touted the game that it had gotten that order and stopped development, it only furthered my idea, when I went on and couldnt find a single valid download link.

Oh well cheers! But hey, when people like Square Enix shut down good games like the Chrono Project every day, would it be that surprising?
In response to Scoobert
You should be able to do the same on PS3 because sony will be supporting Linux on the PS3.
In response to Elation
Yeah, hopefully Nintendo does somethnig spiffy :)

I still look forward to next-gen stuff though, because to me some of the games are more fun by how they look and work(simulation games, for example).

I still can't deny the games that are the most fun are the fantasy ones though! :P You don't need graphics nor power for that.
Both. And the Nintendo Revolution. I have a good-paying job, at McDonald's(Hey, I make about $1,000 a month over summer, and since I'm 15 I don't have to worry about paying bills). I think the best one will be the PS3, as far as titles. However, the specs of the PS2 pale in comparison with the Xbox and the Gamecube(Although I am curious to see how functional that Cell processor turns out to be). So all in all, I think that the PS3 will be the top-runner, with the titles it has- Final Fantasy especially. After that, if the Xbox 360's design doesn't become larger over the remainder of the year, it will probably come in a close second, due to titles such as Halo. Nintendo really has to broaden their range if they want to compete. Few of their titles are aimed for older audiences, with the vast majority(Mario, etc.) aimed at the younger generation.

Xbox 360 all the way. Online is free not free, it has some backwards compatability (Works with certain games), has the greatest titles(opinion)not in my opinion, connects to your computer, comes with Xbox Live Arcade, etc.

Online will be free because xbox live is now offering xbox live silver which is free and gold which you will have to pay for and HALO 3 will come out for xbox360 the same day ps3 comes out

You can hack the PSP to go online and sruf the net.

Nope, and I don't blame you for thinking it. Oh well.

Why do you think the revolution is coming out AFTER the ps3 and xbox360?

So Nintendo can see what their up against, and improve their system.

Interesting asumption personally I think it's because they are trying to make a system that can at least compete with the PS2 and XBOX.Why the hype they don't even have a working model to show the public yet.Oh and by the way PS3 will definetly by at least 5 times better than the XBOX not to dis the revolution which no one even knows anythig about yet.

Um just so you know, a few people have gotten their hands on a working model of the Nintendo R, the only problem is, Nintendo is so worried about people stealing their ideas, that they are making sure everyone is hush hush about it.

And the model shown at E3 is confimred to be the offical modle style. There are a few places you can already pre-order, if you can stand waiting a year or more, and having to deal with constant price changes, since we dont know what its really going to cost.

The Nintnedo R is not going to compete with the PS2 or Xbox, why would you even say that? Are you that dumb? Oh yeah, lets make a next gen system, that competes with last generations systems. Stop smoking that stuff you find on the ground, its not pot!

Nintendo has given us more then enough info about the Nintendo R to know that it'll have its own legs to stand on, when it comes time to butt heads with Sony and MS in the new generation of game system.

Nintendo already admitted that it will have the power to please even the power hunger video game fans and all the current specs released, either match up to the Xbox 360 or the Sony PSX 3.

Not only that, they have listened to their fans, and added in a large number of things, that were sorely missed with the Gamecube, including DVD Play Back, and Online Gameplay, out of the box.

And who can blame them for holding back and waiting to see how online gaming went through, or the DVD play back? Look how crappily Dreamcast DID, and you could play online games and buy a VCD/DVD Playback kit.

Id also like to point out, that while alot of sources say that the R wont be supporting HD TV, that is a half way rumor.

Apperatnly the Nintendo R will support HD TV, only in FMs and DVD playback, the gameplay it self wont support it. Weird.
