3.5 is free- if you would pay attention to the announcement as well as past topics on the same subject, you would understand this.

the only thing not free is certain features of the pager (and rightfully so since it's the biggest hog of bandwidth for DanTom), a members-blog, and subscription to BYONDscape - all rolled into one nice inexpensive package.

otherwise you can still create, host, and play BYOND games for free, as you always have.

You shouldn't need to downgrade, but you should be able to if you don't mind missing out on projects compiled in 3.5. There even are quite possibly a bunch of people who should not bother to download 3.5 until an official version is out since it's in testing. However, it's not as if the pay features of the pager are going to magically work with an older version. They go through Dantom's server. That's why they take money to provide. Everything else which was free still is. The other pay features are new.

You can always downgrade if you want, but eventually games made using newer versions won't work for older versions ('Bad World' error, anyone?) and eventually you'll need to upgrade. Please note, downgrading won't change the fact that the pager requires a membership to start conversations and broadcast your location.

3.5 is a beta right now, which is why people keep reporting things like their code being 'messed up', or faults with the pager. Bug reporting!

If you don't have money to pay, then don't pay. Simple as that. Paying is not required for anything toher than the extra features. And, for those of you saying the pager isn't extra, it is. You don't need the pager to play/make games do you? It would only take 3 seconds of your time to make a simple chat room.

*Note: Due to the fact I did not bother wasting my time to test it, it might not work, but I'm positives it will*

So, lets go over the arguements.
1. No pager-AIM, MSN, Chatters, or that code above can solve that (but, if your going to use BYOND, I recommend starting your own channel in Chatters)
2. You don't have the money-So? You don't have to pay. All it is for is for the blog, file hosting, forum avatars, and the actual pager. All extra features that, besides the pager (which has been dealt with by #1), have never been included on BYOND before so obviously you don't need it.

You do not have to pay to play. BYOND is and always will be freeware. Are there any other arguements that I can easily deal with?

No you can't, because there's no such thing as BYOND 3.4. There's BYOND 342. Note that the 342 and 3.5 are completely different version numbers and have nothing in common; 3.5 is not 350. (In fact, 3.5 is actually 343.)
