The people paging you are spreading disinformation. Let me repeat:

The ONLY thing that is being restricted is the ability to START conversations. That's it. You will still be able to respond to Members who page you.
The pager is OPTIONAL. It's not like the games are becoming pay-to-play. Just the pager. The PAGER, for <insert deity here>'s sake. There are literally dozens of free Instant Messengers out there that are BETTER. Use one of those, and list your screen name in your key description so you can be contacted! It's not hard!
BYOND is not going anywhere. If you pay, you can help ensure that it moves forward. If you don't want to pay, that's fine; but please recognise that this is a necessary step. Without funding, BYOND will stagnate.
Do you want BYOND 4.0? Then accept the pay structure as a necessary inconvenience and move on.

While BYOND game file hosting used to be offered, the current file hosting doesn't have to be BYOND-related at all.
