I was thinking of picking up either Final Fantasy Online or Starwars Galaxies Online.
My system more then meets the hardware requirmenets, but I dont know if i could play these games at a good pace on Dial Up.
If not, ayone got a better suggestion?

I highly suggest playing World of Wacraft.
They've created the world so great... the battle zones they've just now added are fun as hell. Their graphics aren't state-of-the-art, and for a good reason. Blizzard Entertainment wants to appeal to all gamers, even those with poor PCs and connections (I play WoW with a 28.8k modem, and I get along just fine!). The community is just great, since there's no real possible way to grief other players... the guild communities are especially fun! Take it from me, I've played them all... including Guild Wars. Final Fantasy XI is rather a mediocre game, and I highly suggest you DON'T play Star Wars Galaxies, mainly because SOE tends to screw up sooner or later (I'm not biased, I'm a hardcore Starwars fan as well). |

I quite enjoyed SWG, when I got to play a 14 day free trial. I just really wish I could afford 15 dollars a month. Seeing that I have no reliable source of income, I can't. =/
It was fun, IMHO. It was an ok game, but what I thought made it a lot better, was it's expansion: Jump to Lightspeed. It had really cool space combat, that I enjoyed a lot mixed with the game itself. The only bad thing was the lag, and I have cable, so I really don't think 56k would be enough. |
I'd suggest Guild Wars.
I enjoyed GW and City of Heroes, but most everyone else said CoH got too repetitive. I never found it that way, but you probably will too. :P I didn't much like World of Warcraft at all. I spent almost all of my time doing delivery boy quests, because there was nothing else to do. And that was no fun. The transporation SUCKED, especially compared to City of Heroes (the transportation was like, one of the best aspects of the game). I'm still playing Guild Wars, and it's fun. The arena battles remind me of a pumped up, 3D Proelium (which is a good thing!). Even better, there's NO MONTHLY FEE! HUZZAH! :D |

Well see, I had EverQuest Platinum, and part of the reaon why I stopped playing was due to the fact that the game was hard to navagate, I often got lost.
Also, when I played for 6 hours and got about 4 levels, that totally made me dislike the game. I understand havign a medium hard setting for a online game, but I expect a few more levels then that, at least a level an hour! And I was fighting the strongest monsters I could fight! In World of War craft, is there any chance at all of PK? Because quite frankly I love PK, and if you cant at least occasial greif online players once and awhile, what the hell i the point of online game play? I could just play Final Fantasy 10 and get the same gameplay exp. |

I was at Shopko today and they had prints of Matrix Online, on sale for $20.00
I was going to pick one up, then I remebered, isnt the Matrix Online a farily new online MMORPG? And I mean, games like Daiblo 2 are just NOW starting to sell for $20.00 new. So i assumed that it wasnt doing very well and it was unpopular. That and the comments made about it on Byond werent very good either. |

So you wanna kill others but not get killed?
I'm sure you could just go to a "Shades" server. You'll be level 60, have GM, and can kill anyone you want. .... :P A level per hour? I'm satisfied with a level per week. :| I know for sure that when you get into the higher levels in World of Warcraft, you will NOT be getting another level every hour. You sound spoiled to me. :P And Guild Wars is all about PvP. If you're into PKing, you'll get as much as you want here. You can make a roleplaying character and take them up to level 20 (hardcore gamers can probably take a char from 1 to 20 in less than a day :P), then take them to the arenas, or make a PvP character that starts at level 20, but is weaker and less customised. |

Yeah your right, I am spoild, by muds.
On a online mud I used to play, players could starts Non-PK or PK. When you joined a Guild, you went PK. Once you went PK, you stayed PK. Even when you WERE Pk, players had to be within at least 10 levels above or below you to attack you, or they would get 1 of two messages: "They would tear you apart.." "They pose no challanage to you.." This is to protect low level PK from those idiots who have power leveled up to a insane ammount of levels and likes to greif other players. Guess what, I was told, from what I hear, World of War Craft, is no better then Final Fantasy Online and EverQuest. The biggest thing you do is level up. Thats not a fun time for me, especially when I have to play 3 or 4 hours to gain one stupid level. The only reason why I was considering Final Fanasty Onine was because I always liked the game series. At least Star Wars galaxies work with a alternative form of leveling up. And feature some more intretsing forms of combat. |

Doesn't leveling up in MMORPG's get boring . I've never played and MM... (that names too long) because my internet connection is craptastic. I wish there was a game w/o levels, just skills. It would take away from griefing (im geussing thats killing low level characters) as much.

FF11 sucks, I expected so much more from it. It's just grinding, grinding, and, ooh, yay, I went up a level!
I recomend trying out Rubies of Eventide, it's a really great game where you can totally customize your character and there's ~50 classes. |
Ragnarok Online because all other MMoRPG's suck!
...or Anarchy Online because it's free! ~Kujila |

I used to play Ragnarock online, but the prices for equipment were outrageous.
Not only that, as soon as I hit really big parts of town, where all those idiots left their merchant charaters, my connetion sucked really bad. I was going to keep playing, until I found a private server, which I played for a few months. Then I got this new computer, and I dont have Ragnarock anymore. The download is too big, and I think I applied for the free cd over 6 months ago and never got it. I was thinking of trying to download rubies, but its a 20 hours download. If you can find me a link I can use with Flash Get, then Ill go for it. |

I played UO with a 56k modem and 233 Mhz computer. UO remains to this day one of my most favorite MMOs, only wish they would make another one using the same ideas.
