Recently (started yesterday, I believe) whenever I try to open firefox, nothing happens. It doesn't open. I checked the task manager, and it shows firefox.exe, but nothing happens. I uninstalled, restarted, installed (v1.0.5 I believe) and still nothing.

Even more annoying, is IE isn't working either (coincidence, I believe). After a few pages or so, it just freezes up, and I have to use task manager to close it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Using win2k pro (sp4) if that matters.
I have the same problem sometimes, just try restarting.
If that doesn't work then it must be a different problem then mine.

I have done that, thanks for trying though :-)
Bleh, does anyone know?

I keep having to go through DS, and any page with any sort of media on it crashes DS.

I've uninstalled, restarted, and installed again. Worked for about 10 minutes.

I ran a spyware and virus scan, and got rid of everything, but still not working.

As an extreme I guess reinstalling your OS would be the only thing I can think of doing. :(

Perhaps your profile got corrupt from a bad shutdown. I have heard of this happening. Try searching the mozilla help forums.

I tried making a new profile, still doesn't work.

What's really making me mad now, is my friggin' spyware still pops up in firefox.

Why?

You said something about byond.

Firefox, there might be a virus that infected it, so uninstalling it is probably the best option, then scanning

I said I have to use DS' browser, but even that freezes if a page has audio/video on it.

Thanks though, I'll try.

I ran that, and I ran AVG.

Both found (and deleted/disinfected) a whole bunch of crap. I restarted, but I still can't use firefox :-(

Sometimes it'll work when I restart, but if I close it, I can't get it open again.

I had the same problem. I just installed mozilla, after a couple weeks I tried Firefox and it worked just fine. I truly dont know what to say. Except everything not in bold

Odd, as the DS browser is EXACTLY the same as Internet Explorer (bleh!) but then without the additional menubar and stuff.

Phoenix Man babbles:
...the DS browser is EXACTLY the same as Internet Explorer...

um... no. about the only 'sameness' they have in common are things like: the word 'browser', and a few of the menu items, or and maybe the functionality of the buttons. this probably consitutes less than 20% of browser codebase.

exactly the same? hardly...
In response to digitalmouse
Um, digi, the DS browser is IE. It's an Internet Explorer window embedded into the application, through the magic of COM or ActiveX or whatever they're calling it these days. =)
