I've tried to let XP manage the page file size and I've tried to manage it manually.

It still keeps coming up... Help!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

How much of your hard drive space is free? Also, try setting an exact amount of virtual memory.

21 giggers on the C: and 21 giggers on the D:

I did but I also got this message >_>

I blame Second Life =P

I only get this error after playing that...

Heh, I'm not sure. Do you meet the RAM specifications for the game? If that's not it, it might be a problem with the game itself and looking through their forums or whatnot might help.

Yupp yupp. I think it asked for 256 MB of RAM and I have 1 GB.

Try restarting your computer. Data is only stored in RAM until your computer is turned off.

Setting virtual memory manually is almost always a better option (assuming you know what you're doing) in terms of performance. I've heard that a good rule of thumb is 1.5x-2x of the amount of RAM you have (mind you, this was back in the days when 512MB was more common than 1GB, so I don't know if it still applies).

Why? Because resizing the pagefile is slow.

If you haven't tried restarting yet, do so first. Restarting fixes many things. =)

Heh, I said that, hours ago. If I remember correctly, all RAM is freed up when the computer is turned off, so that should do the trick.

Yeah, I know, I did read your post. But I thought it worth repeating. =)

And indeed, RAM does lose all information once the power goes off.
This has never happened before!

Now whatever I set my page file to it gets filled up and then everything starts crashing! Dreamseeker crashed then Winamp then photoshop CS... I check my task manager and low and behold my 4 GB page file is maxed out!

I thought it was supposed to flush itself once and a while! I mean, I've played games for years now on this PC and left my PC on for days even weeks and months and this has never been a problem.

Any ideas?

If this doesnt work, dont blame me, blaim 5starsupport.

-Click on the Start button
-Go to the Control Panel
-Administrative Tools
-Local Security Policy
-Local Policies
-Click on Security Options
-Right hand menu - right click on "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile"
-Select "Enable"
-Reboot
My PC was freezing up once again so I stopped for a moment and thought what could be causing the problems. Before the problem started to occur I had installed two applications: "Second Life" and "JT Tray Minimizer"

"Well," I though, "I haven't played SecondLife since my PC has been restarted, sooo..."

I removed JT Tray Minimizer.

BAM!

Page file drops to approximately 500 MB usage from 4 GB usage and everything starts working smoothly again!

BEWARE OF JT TRAY MINIMIZER!
