I've got a good story for those of you who ever considered Comp USA as a reasonable place to shop. Now, I dont know if it's a nationwide chain or if it's just a california store, but anyway, Comp USA is without a dobut, the most shady organization ever. Lets take a trip back in time. I was building the ultimate pc a few months back. I had everytyhing. I had a MSI k8 neo2 or was it neo4, i dont remember, but anyway i had the newest msi motherboard, i bought the amd x-55 proc (omg), and i bought a serial ata hard drive (ok thats not that impressive), along with a beautiful thermaltake case, and 2 gb of corsair xml ram (the ones with the light up display and aluminum heat sinks). Anyway, all that was left was for me to buy a video card. People will say that the new nvidia pwns the x800 series, but as anyone with half a brain knows, ati > nvidia. its like comparing athalons with celerons. anyway, i was trying to find the x800 xt platinum, but it is in VERY high demand with very few of them actually produced. my best friends in the whole world pc club didnt have one, so i looked accrost the street and saw "comp usa". what the hell, i thought.
to my surprise, comp usa actually had the x850 xt platinum. i couldnt believe it. so afer i shelled out 600 dollars, i went home a happy man. DUN DUN DUN!!!! suddenly, when i opened the SEALED box, the wrong video card was inside it. it wasn't even a pci-e video card! it was a 5200 fx with the serial numbers scratched off!!! OMG COMP USA U SUCK! so anyway, i had to drive back to montclair ALL the way just to take it back. luckily they took it back.
now, if that story wasn't enough to convince you to NEVER shop at comp usa, this just happened last night.
my friend was looking for the origional everquest, and the only copy he could find was one in rancho cucamonga's comp usa. i urged him not to do it, but he still went. after he picked it up and came back, he got to work installing it. TO HIS HORROR, the cd key was NOWHERE to be found in the box. comp usa had actually broken the origional seal for the game and sealed it with their own COMP USA sticker.
so TWICE comp usa ripped people off in abhorent ways. AVOID COMP USA AT ALL COSTS PLZ!

LOL, yes they are a nationwide chain. I never had that problem with them over here in NY. But in a place called "rancho cucamonga" you never know, or so it seems.

Ya, we have them here too, and they suck. Their prices are horrible. The store I went to had no customer service, I could have robbed the place blind and nobody would have noticed. I didn't buy anything, because the prices where insane and they had almost nothing in stock. I would never think of buying from them. On top of that, I 99% of the time buy online. I always get what I asked for(Even when I asked for the wrong thing).
