Well just thought I'd let everyone know I went for my first job interview and got hired at the local grocery store. I start in october however because the store is being rebuilt. YAY FOR ME :) $6.15 an hour baby.

My first job? I was hired as an in-store technician, the "Geek Squad" as it's called now. I was desperate and asked for 7 an hour... they hired me in at 8 and raised me up to 10.25 within 2 days. Not much for a "technician", but they require no formal training. You good at diagnosing? Ever backed up a dieing hard-drive? Done a lot of virus removal and spyware eradication? Get a job as an in-store tech! Honestly, I learned a lot working with the other dorks. None of them liked to party though, although the supervisor had a hot girlfriend, surprisingly. Oh, well... I'm rambling. :)

My first job, I started back in June at a (then-local, not now that I've moved) McDonald's. YAY FOR ME :) $6.15 an hour baby. I got started at $5.15/hour, Ohio's minimum wage. Within a month, I was making $5.25/hour, which is more than some people that had been working there since the previous year, but still nothing worth bragging. And generally I had the chance to work between 30-38 hours a week, so it made for a pretty little income. I quit just the other week, on the reasoning that I've moved and can't legally drive myself, and my parents refused to provide a "taxi" service any longer. Hiead |
I think almost everyone in Hamilton and the surrounding area has worked at that McDonalds at some point... I know of at least 7 people.

Cool, my first real job (not counting babysitting,) I earned 10 dollars an hour, and it was off the books. Awesomeness.

I would recommend getting out of Grocery as soon as possible. Well, its easy and I don't mind it :). Also, fast food and retail both suck. I wouldn't be caught dead in a fast food place working. |

$6.15 an hour baby. Minimum wage is so low in the States, jeez; in Canada it's $8.00/h. Your money's worth more than ours, I suppose, but not by that much. Xooxer is gonna think I'm obsessed with exchange rates and minimum wages... oi. Here's to hoping you don't read this. =| |

ya but I bet houses are insanely low priced...
The cost of living there must be really low. Typically the minimum wage increases as costs increase for the average person. |
I have two jobs both paying 7.65 an hour (minimum Wage Ithink is around 7 here in washington). Both retail, Payless shoes and Electronic Boutique (EB games).
I love the ebgames store, it's a lot of fun working there. Payless sucks so much though... Even with two jobs, I have a hard time paying bills and having any money left over to go see movies, etc. I usually manage to have money left over to do so though (only one month so far I haven't). Sucks when you get doctor bill sfrom being sick totalling over 500 dollars... just hope the insurance pay for it this time! All I did was go in for a check up.... rarrr |
No real advice, except for, don't spend money you don't have.
