I purchased a toshiba labtop a while ago im not sure the model or whatever, but anyways the moniters light doesnt come on the screen anymore so i cannot see the screen its very dark(as you can see i dont know the exact name of what it is cause im not a computer genuis) well anyways when i press the button that makes it go into like sleep mode if you hold it down you can see the screen for a split second so the light is not broken or anything, well anyways is it the brightness of the moniter? if so how do i adjust it lol i let my mother borrow it and she returned it like this. Yeah im a newb you probably cant understand what im trying to say.
if you can help i would be very very thankful

My Toshiba caught on fire...
They said it was water damage, but I was never around anything (like a drink or anything) It was quite a scarey experience when it bursted into flames right in my lap. |
Well, my Toshiba has a little thing that tells it has a closed lid, perhaps that got stuck. It is a pin sticking up in the upper left hand corner. Check on that.

No wonder you changed your gender!
Just kidding, man that would be scarey, but I somehow doubt that. |

The damn people at Toshiba said it was water damage....
*shakes fist* We got it to work, but it has to stay plugged in quite a lot, and there's no sound, and I think the DVD reader is busted. |

I had a similar problem with my laptop. Actually, it was the same problem. Yes, it was also a Toshiba. From what I hear, the screen can die out and it darkens. Not sure if this is true or not. I ended up using the restore disk on it and the problem was solved. Hope this helps. |

Does anyone know? |

If you lost your restore disk (even if you did have it and the problem still occurs) you should call up the Toshiba company. They will ask you for information. Once you are done giving them your information they will send you an empty box. Put your laptop into it and send it back to them. They will repair it and have you pick it up. If your laptop is not under warrenty anymore then they will most likely not send you the box hence they do not care for laptops that are not under warrenty. |
Note: these pictures were taken from my Dell Laptop, the setup of the keys will most likely not be the same...
