Elder Scrolls, and you're right, 1 game doesn't make a system, but there's so many good PC games out/coming out that it's unimportant.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is going to pwn the hell out of other RPGs though. If you haven't heard/read about the game, you need to, because it's really being done on a whole new level.

Elder Scrolls is crap. People have ranted and raved about the game, and ive played better role playing games from the 80s and 90s then Elder Scrolls. The last thing I need to do is get excited about another game based off a series I disliked so much.

Especally about how much people have raved about the way it looks. Big deal, your talking to a guy who still plays atari games.

There is one game I am waiting for and its Fallout 3, and since the same idiots who work on Elder Scrolls has the rights to Fallout 3, I am seriously worried it will be another "Brotherhood of Steel"

Morrowind did have some serious flaws, but if Oblivion lives up to the hype then many of those are looking to be corrected. It remains to be seen how much of the hype is true, though. In particular, I want to see if they've actually improved the melee combat to something resembling that of Mount&Blade. It's not quite clear how similar it will be (the more the better in my opinion).

The graphics do look seriously sweet. I don't think that they're all-important or anything, but we're talking serious eye candy here. Have you seen the screenshot of the tall grass in the forest? It's amazing stuff.
In response to Crispy
Holy god, grass! Excuse me while I go change my pants, I got so excited I crapped my pants.

I never cared about graphics. Now if its a good game, and it looks good, then its ok, but if its a game that looks good, and it sucks, I could care less.

Its sorta like the PS3, how its claiming FPS so high that the human eye cant see it, so why the hell should we care?

Don't talk until you've seen the screenshot I mean. It's probably the most detailed real-time graphics I've seen. Do you have any idea how computationally expensive it is to render long grass realistically? (Answer: Very.) It seriously does look beautiful. Scoff all you like; I'll be sitting here enjoying the pretty pictures while you mumble in your corner. =)

Sure. But you can't judge the gameplay until it's out. I'd wager that it'll at least be an okay game, in which case it'd be worth playing at least briefly. Maybe rent it.

Because it means that developers have more leeway to stress the graphics processor, therefore more pretty effects; and you can't argue that eye candy is bad. The only argument against graphical effects is that they potentially take development time and resources away from other areas, like gameplay; but the high FPS also means that developers can get away with doing less optimisation, which speeds up development. No matter how you look at it, extra graphical processing power can only be a good thing.

Nah, not really, I can wait months, even years for a game to come out. It just means I have to pay more.

I'm not sure which part you're responding to, or what you mean exactly.

About the developers having to work less because they have a little extra room due to the insane ammount of FPS the PS3 boasts.

Either way..Refer to the title..^_^ Next week..The onslaught begins.

Do go and tell me what the awesome games are you're talking about. Odds are I've played them, and well, graphics or not, a new game's first run tends to be more fun than the 543754th run of another RPG (everyone getting happy over ff3, which i've had for 6-7 years).

Go read about the game, you'll learn why it's not the graphics that make it good. If you can find me another RPG that has successfully had a fully 'living' enviroment like ES4, i'll try it, till then, hush.

I could dig out my Atari systems and play the games there, but fun or not, they simply cannot compare to newer games in many ways.

Oh, and if you want to see how eye-candy can dominate people, look at FF7. If they were to release that on PS2 right now (for the first time), and excluding the fact that SE is making horrible games now, it would be viewed as a decent game, instead of having millions of fanboys praising it as the god of all games.
Wi-Fi connections are up! Yahoo! I'm gonna try to get Mario Kart DS now so I can pwn some n00bs out of county, out of state, or even out of country! I'm so excited and hyped up! I'm so glad that McDonalds are hot spots now.

Is Sims 2 like the PC? Because I read that it's different. Why do they have to go and change a game around for?
In response to EGUY
Sims 2 (DS) you run a hotel in strangetown. I don't know about the PC version though.

I can say only one thing: go take a look at the E3 demo videos here.

My favourites are the combat video (take that, bonelord!) and the Radiant AI video ("That's a bad dog!").

If you watch them, you'll know. If you don't watch them, you have no business talking smack about our precious. ;-)

...Guess I said more than one thing after all.

On that part, however, we're on the same page. There's a certain sparkle to the Black Isle team that I know Bethesda won't be able to match. When Black Isle broke away from Interplay -- becoming Troika Games -- and lost the Fallout licence, their Fallout-like product Arcanum was a decent game but paled in comparison to Fallout. Even the same developers just didn't get it right when they weren't in the same development house... so imagine how bad it'll be when it's different developers in a different development house.

you DS and PSP fanboys are really sleeping lately. The GP2X has started shipping, and it's overall abilities are starting to draw people away from PSPs, video-iPODs, and other small gaming machines:

'After Korean manufacturer Gamepark announced a successor to their massively popular handheld platform GP32, gamers worldwide have been holding their breath. Far from being just a portable console, the homebrew and development community is already in awe of its publicized specifications and features. Sporting a powerful Dual CPU core at its heart, the GP2X will prove to be a true multimedia machine with its multiple codecs support (DivX, MPEG, MP3,...) and TV Out capability. Being Linux based, it promises an Open Source environment for loads of garage-programmed games and applications in the future. Not only great for enjoying movies and music on the go, the GP2X is also a fine device to play free emulators on: SNES, NES, GB, Sega Mega Drive, Spectrum, C64, Atari, PC Engine (to just name a few). With a 3.5" TFT LCD Screen and High-Speed USB 2.0 connection, it's portable gadget glory at its best.'
