If the chip was telling the 360 it was overheating, even if it wasn't, wouldn't the 360 do something to cool off instead of getting hotter?

You mean like shut it down? If there is a internal problem with the Xbox 360, then it might not shut itself down. By the time it gets so hot the hardware shuts down you may have already done perimate damage. The Xbox 360 must have horrible ventilation if you set it on a crapet and it overheats. since thats only the bottom being effected/ |

If its the orginal PS2, from like, the first shipment of PS2, the laser might need to be replaced. I read that PS2 lasers are cheap, even in the newer models. Nope, mine was far off the first shipping. |

I've done that, on more than one occasion.
I used a bunch of screwed up CDs (failed burns and such), and an old microwave. The results are quite interesting. Haha. >.> |

Hmmm... my PS2 seems to be packing up now. Some games don't run no matter how many times you use that Game Doctor thing. It could be the Game Doctor. I had a similar problem with a device for playing VCDs on my PSX. I took the PSX in for a service and it was fine after that (although I stopped using the device). |

Rented? Where exactly? This gives me an idea.

dude all new xbox 360 are all glitched up Dude, how do you know? My 360 runs fine! No lag, no crashing, no glitches. I haven't had a disk get ruined, my controllers run fine. So unless you're going to go check each and every 360 on Earth, you can't say that they're all "glitched up". |

Yeah... it seems busted now. But I don't think so when I tried it. PS: About the Microwave thing going around... do the reverse and in 10 minutes you could be able to play it. (Reverse is a Fridge, or more extreme, a Freezer. |

I NGC dropped from 2 feet off the ground and broke. I read a (console-neutral) magazine and it said that out of XBox, PS2 and NGC, the NGC was the most resistant to destruction by sledgehammer. |

Which is good, because as any computer technician knows the best debugging tool is a sledgehammer.
Hey, it works on cockroaches. |
