I have Microsoft Windows XP and in the Start Menu, there is a little picture right beside the user's name at the top of the menu. How do I get rid of that? I know how to change it, but I can't get rid of it. I've tried using a transparent image, but it shows up as white.
Google.com is your friend use it

Eh, I tried Google, didn't come up with anything. Fast enough, anyway.

I love you as much as one man can love another without being gay.

Well, that was very awkward. But thanks a bunch, man.

Did it work? i just reformatted my comp and install windows xp and i don't have application data folder... sigh i hate the picture

anyway have fun
My Computer --> Control Panel --> Taskbar and Start Menu

Click the Start Menu tab, and then click the little "Classic Menu" Radio button.

:D

Everyone knows the windows 98 start menu is way better than XP's.

I disagree, I like the windows XP start, but I remove many icons and shrink them. I also look for windows Visual styles that have compact start menus.

A strange one is you. It's ugly and takes up too much space and the applications in the list change around all the time. Yuck.

I did that too. What I did was just make some shortcuts to folders and then edit their locations. Application Data is still there, it's just hidden.

I also like the XP one better. I can make all the items smaller, and I just installed an older version of WindowBlinds to run because 5.0 is too intensive for my videocard, though I can play Counter-Strike fairly well. This is their design flaw.

Like I said, you have to make it small icons, and get a theme with a compact menu. Very clean and small if done right. Let me see if I have a screen shot of a clean one...

Well, looks like this is the only one I have at the time, it is a Visual Style I made using someone elses as a base(I did change all the colors, redesigned a large portion of menus and frames, but still needed that nice base, although it was an ugle green)

Yeah, thats it for now. I might post some more later, I am using a good VS right now, BlackMesa is the name. Check it out.

Why use blinds? Why not just install a theme patch, and use Microsoft's built in theme engine, which Blinds runs on top of. http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=140707 is a good patcher. Get Visual Styles on deviantart.com, place in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

You are welcome for me getting you away from the ugly "Windows Blinds" /me shutters at the thought.

That's not too bad I guess, but I still prefer the classic version. I'm just used to it, really.

I always remove some things from it though... like Favourites, which is useless to me because I don't use IE.

Well, I was once that way, but I broke the win98 habit and started using some of the nice visual enhancements of XP. Don't get me wrong, the new "Control Panel" looks like crap, I always turn it back to classic. Even if I did prefer the classic start menu, I would be forced to use the XP style of it because most of the computers, outside of my house, use the XP menu. I agree though, the stock start menu looks like [dung].

Have you seen windows vista yet? its not that differnet but looks better and my cpu runs at 0-2 even when aving games running

I lub j00 2, hoam skilled.

I uninstalled WindowBlinds last night and found something I like better. It's not even a program. I found the Royale Theme for XP which makes everything look shiny, and then I found a Vista theme which is basically like a reformation of my OS to work somewhat like Vista, but on a Windows XP platform so I can use everything for Windows XP.

See, my OS is much faster, it loks great, it's got like.. one of those OSX bars that Macs have, and it works excellently. Not to mention, all new icons. I think it can be found at http://crystalxp.net or http://crystalxp.com

*vomits*
What is that, the old DM icon? Now that I've got all these new Beta icon for BYOND, those just look disgusting.
In response to CaptFalcon33035
Yes, I am running the crystalxp vista brisko pack. I like it, but I changed the visual style because I don't like the Vista theme that people like to show off.
In response to Scoobert
I returned the Windows Theme to Classic somehow and I can't find a way to turn it back. Know anything 'bout this?
