KaefeCorp is Currently designing an OS and would like to include BYOND files as Standard. I am hereby requesting Permission for them to do so. The Percentage of Profits to go to BYOND is to be set by BYOND staff.
Designing an OS? Really? I'd suspect if you're going to actually make anything, it would be based off of the Linux kernal.

I doubt Dantom are going to want any money from you guys, but ask them yourself. And remember to include some sort of copyright notice.

Your right it is based on the Linux Kernel. KC are just asking if they can include BYOND files as Standard. If Dan, Tom or any member of the BYOND staff could respond it would be a great help

this 'request' should be addressed directly to the support form: http://byond.com/support/support.cgi

just out of curiousity - what do you mean 'include BYOND files as Standard' (with big 'S')?

BYOND is free for anyone to download and use. there should not be a problem in adding it as a pre-installed software package, as long as the copyrights/lefts/whatever are maintained.

also keep in mind that the current Linux version of BYOND is still console/text based. only those wishing to run BYOND in a server role, or play strictly text-based games (like MUDs or chatroom-programs) will get any benefit of the pre-installed package.

the big 'S' is just a typo. Also we are writing Wine Code to allow the Windows version of BYOND to be used in Linux Distros and our own OS.

PS thanks for the link

no problem - and you may want to watch for threads like this one - [link]

i'm already communicating on a semi-regular basis with the CodeWeaver's group. their changes make it back to Wine.

Sweet! That's a really excellent contribution to the BYOND Linux community. Good luck with your Linux distro, and for the record I think that getting BYOND included in Linux distros could be a really neat way to promote BYOND in the future. People are more likely to play BYOND games if the software is included in their system.

As soon as BYOND works, I'm switching to linux. =)
But what about upgrades, wouldn't that break BYOND working with wine (Like for BYOND4 for example.)
In response to Flame Sage
Yeah, I'm sure upgrades to BYOND will require upgrades to any emulator that supports it . . . which is why I suspect that Digitalmouse is beign premature in his work to get the current version of BYOND working, with BYOND 4 (supposedly) right around the corner.
