I don't get this in most byond games as a rule they say don't ask to be enforcer. Eventhrough it says they need enforcers you can't ask as a rule. Then how the hell are you surposed to be an enforcer on the game?

Bribing can work aswell xD

Typically, people are unnerved by others coming right out and asking to be a moderator. It can be suspicious and I imagine that even if you are granted the position by the host, most people will probably be put off by you so almost anything you do won't be received well by the game's population and you'll probably be doomed as a staff member before you ever begin.

I see this alot. Some GMs don't enforce their own rules and sometimes even break them.
BYOND is corrupt in some aspects. |

The one's who started with the name of "enforcer" is massively Elysium rips, and now other games are using it as well.
Jus don't play them, I'd say. :| |

BYOND isn't corrupt, it's the few games that may be.

Uh, Elysium wasn't the first game to use the term enforcer and actully, I think it is a GOOD term.
On muds the staff are usually called Immortals or Imms for short, which dosen't seem right, as it would suggest they had more power, godly power over the players. And while the enforcers do have some abilites to try and keep control over the game, the term enforcer means enforcing the rules, but I would like to think without any other advantages. of course as we know this isn't usually the case, especally on BYOND. Don't judge a game by how it calls its' staff. |

You have to REALLY enjoy a game and have an endless tolerance for people that ask what seem to be stupid questions. Otherwise, there's no better way to kill your appreciation of a game than by moderating it.

Sorry I wasn't more specific. I was refurring to Crispy's comment about being a moderator for Byond. I've been one for plenty of games before.
As I have said in the past, I don't really care one way or the other for most games or boards whether I am one or not. But I'm just stating that I'm not, and haven't even been offered it here, therefor Crispy's comment about just being helpful and good and so on isn't entirely accurate. There is also another element involved; it's just as much about who you know as it is what you know. |

Oh.
You have to REALLY enjoy <s>a game</s> the forums and have an endless tolerance for people that ask what seem to be stupid questions. Otherwise, there's no better way to kill your appreciation of <s>a game</s> the forums than by moderating it. Fixed. :D If I had to hazard a guess, I would imagine that sufficient knowledge of the Dream Maker language would be required as well, on top of the generic "be helpful and be active" that is expected. Honestly, you almost sound a little...sour. :/ Even if you say you don't care, and if it's also about who you know. I doubt they'd just go on recruiting sprees and invite anyone who just posts nicely, anyway. |

And really the problem is the player crowd. You get a group comprised mainly of teenagers incapable of functioning socially, and problems will ensue. Lummox JR |
That's how I got to be a forum moderator, after all. =)
