Actually, the US is destroying nuclear weapons and ICBMs steadily.
And that is pure fabrication about iran not being able to build a Nuke. They were three months from building one a month ago. That leaves us two months.
We're off-topic...

It's a good idea - it would really ease up the tax bureacucy. However, that bureacucy employs a considerable number of people who don't feel like learning a real profession.
Nort to mention the fact that a whole political party wants every American to be poor and relying on government handouts. --Vito |

We only care about your character. I'm sorry. You missed something. What you described is what the government cares about in employment. The private sector is quite different. The only ones who discriminate based on Religion are the ACLU... and they discriminate against white Christians. --Vito |
Umm... You don't claim a victory and say I'm a Hypocrite just because I did not understand what you posted. You actually have to let me respond and actually prove I am a hypocrite. If you'd provide an English translation of your point and your 'proof' I'm a hypocrite, you may actually get to 'win' in the future.
I really doubt it. --Vito |

blowing up countries with oil You guys really can't keep one topic for any length of time, can you... You keep going back to Iraq when someone actually presents a viable point. --Vito |
Ah. Har har. Okay. Revision. Sorry. Bad word choice.
<revision>Very few people are racists. Very, VERY, VERY few. Just calling everyone a racist doesn't make you right or make you 'win'. You actually need to provide evidence. Happy? Sheesh. --Vito |
"Illegal immigrants?" Is that what we call people who come into a land without permission from the locals, refuse to learn the dominant language, contribute to the public welfare or support the established government?
I thought those were called "Pilgrims"... but strangely, I remember the holiday to honor them being in November, not May. Oh, well. We do need to do more to secure our borders, yes, but as a nation we also need to be aware that we were -founded- by "illegal immigrants"... and that the people the Mexicans are descended from are a mixture of Europeans AND the native peoples that ranged from present day Mexico through the current American west. In other words: they were here first. That realization doesn't give us a final answer to the complicated problem of how we are to relate to them today, but it should certainly be born in mind. If we really want to get rid of the perceived econonic drain, the solution would be enforcement of labor practices... if the IRS, the SSA, and the INS were allowed/required to share information at the most basic level (like, everybody use the same databases for employment data), it would be easy to see which companies had undocumented workers and make them stop. This would mean no more jobs for illegals, and no reason for them to be here... ...but it might also mean a jump in prices we pay for everything as certain basic commodities (like meat and fruit, packed and picked by immigrants) goes up... ...but that might be offset (eventually) by an increase in average wages... ...but it's impossible to really say for certain. I can't really make myself care what color the average American's skin will be in a hundred years or what the most common language will be. Do I win a prize if it's my skin color and my language? (And darn it, why is it always a political post that drags me back here?) |
The schools where I live are having a 'funding crisis*' and the district is expanding two of its four High schools, biulding elementaries, and purchasing all-new computers, not to mention a huge software change on the network. Get this: The district is going into full "budget control" mode, cutting the actual education time per school day by one hour next year. The massive salaries of the dozen or so rich lawyers on the board remain uneffected. The Superintendent is retiring (with a generous pension, no doubt), which I believe is a move to cover her tracks. She's run the district for years, and now it's in trouble. She's retireing. Coincidence?
*funding crisis (N): (1) A serious shortage of funds (2) [see "Government budget Cut"] The government term when the rate of increase in funding for an overfunded program is cut by a small amount. --Vito |

The problem is that America spends far too much time (and money) invading other countries and catering to the rich, and not enough time (and money) setting up government-funded education, healthcare, and welfare. Actually, we spend too much time "fixing" those thins. Government motto: If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is. In, say, 50 years time, I predict that America will have sunk to the level of many third-world nations, in terms of squalor. Unless something massive happens to shake the place up - an independant getting elected, a left-wing group getting elected (Not the Democrats, they're far closer to centre then left. American politics is horribly right-centric) The Democrats support things the communist party would cringe at these days. Even a communist will tell you you can't have open borders. (then your subjects might get away) Nevertheless, the Democrats block any move to create a wall on the border. Maybe from your perpective, the Democrats, are too far to the right, but you aren't exactly standing at the center, Jp. --Vito |

Here's a hint - a lot of slaves 'employed' by the Greeks and Romans broke local laws, too. Of course, in several cases, that local law was 'Not being native', but that doesn't sound to different from what you're suggesting.

I know we need to pay those outside jails that work for government, if that's what you meant.
