Oh, so you think it's torture to give terrorists treatment that's better than they give themselves before they're captured?
Actually, I support protecting them from the dictators - anything that makes a power-mad megalomaniac angry is good, generally.

Horray, we can agree.
I wonder if this has set the record for longest thread on the forums ever yet... Somehow I doubt it. --Vito |

It does not matter, if you wanted it bad enough you should go through the process anyways. You deal with it and get it over and you find time. Stop giving them excuses. Oh please.. it is already said that it takes alot to get legal. All you're -probably- talking about is the fact that it takes a long while to get legal. But you obviously did not consider the difficulty of that whole process. When you post, don't leave parts out. O-matic |
You know, if you're just planning to post something that obviously doesn't contribute anything usefull/helpfull, why don't you just don't post and leave the topic as it is?

I'll admit, the legal immigration process is overly burocratic and tedious. However, that's no excuse to ignore the law.
If I said "The tax laws where I live are too complicated, so I'll stop paying taxes", it wouldn't be an excuse to stop myself from bein arrested for tax code violations. --Vito |

That last statement is something I agree with, but yet - If I were in the same situation as one of those "illigal immigrants" I'd do the very same as the million(s) others. I do not really know why, but that imigration process is something I hate, and complicated indeed. If I said "The tax laws where I live are too complicated, so I'll stop paying taxes", it wouldn't be an excuse to stop myself from bein arrested for tax code violations. Do you think that they are not paying taxes because the tax-law is too complicated? If so, I'd like to reply with "Wow...". heh. Actually, it's probably because they're not able to pay the taxes. I'm not too sure about this, but I believe that what I said is pretty much true. O-matic |
No, no, no... I was comparing the tax laws to immigration laws. It was a relation between the real situation of unchecked illegal immigration and the mythical situation in which I used the same "logic" you used referring to illegal immigration to explain why I don't have to pay taxes.
That's hypothetical, of course. I'll keep paying taxes for now. --Vito |
Oh.. A little misunderstanding there. Sorry. I was thinking that you were saying that the reason for them for not-paying taxes was that the tax-law was complicated. Ah well.

Hedgemistress, Our country was not founded by illegal immigrants. They came here and established a home and government unlike the mexicans; They come here to establish gangs and/or make money. Infact I once read on a website the more then half the gangs in the USA are hispanic/Illegal immigrants. Dont get me wrong somewhat percentage of illegal immigrants do come here to make money for there family, but you can make money anywhere you dont have to break the law to get some cash.
Illegal immigrants should NOT be supported!!!!!!!!!! I dont care what happened in the past, we are talking about present day, not pilgrims. Close the borders completly and let mexico stay in mexico. And if we dont secure the borders more pretty soon it will be the United states of mexico. |

Not neccasarily, America mostly has technology-based jobs other countrys *cough* MEXICO!!! *cough* can farm, mine and do construction they dont have to rely on breaking the law and going into OUR country!

Actually, the Mexicans are saying that about us. They think the US is legally their territory - and the mexican government is sponsoring such beliefs.

Hear, Hear!
The only reason that hasn't happened already is because the politicians in Washington, all of them, think that they'll upset all the illegal hispanics by enforcing the law. Some people will do anything to keep from being called a racist, even if such allegations aren't true. --Vito |
You aren't 'giving terrorists better treatment then they give themselves'. You're taking suspects and torturing them to get what you want. Ever heard of Guantanamo Bay? You know, that prison where you've been holding several people with neither evidence nor trial, for years? You've got an Australian national in there. Just because our government refuses to stand up for the human rights of one of our citizens doesn't mean we have to take it.

Who exactly was America taken from when the pilgrims turned up? It was the native Americans. That's the north of north America, of course. The south end would be aztec/inca territory, except that the spanish wiped them out. Mexico has a point there.
You should note that if America tried to annex Mexico, I think most of the world wouldn't be too happy about it. America vs Rest of the world wouldn't have a happy ending. |

It's like you're reading the script, man. After the United Americas made an attempt at taking South America the Republic of Africa resisted (although they also resisted the Socialist Eurasian Union's move to take Australia). Of course this is all in the twenty one fivties. |
