My sister's school is having a science fair, and I want her to do something really cool. But, given the limitations, I'm stumped.

Unacceptable for display:
Living organisms
Taxidermy Specimens or parts
human/animal parts or fluid
soil or waste samples
Laborator chemicals (Inluding water!)
poisons, drugs
dry ice or other subliminating substances
sharp items
flames

Any ideas? I was going to say something with thermite, but that's out... ;]
Hate to say it, completely unoriginal, but it's still reliable; the good 'ol vinegar and baking soda volcano!
Get some mice drunk and see how they get through a maze to the cheese

Get some spiders drunk and see what sort of webs they spin :P

Create a nuclear bomb(its not that hard, google it)

Anything electrifyingly fun. I recommend a Van DeGraff Generator or anything else having to do with static electricity. You could also do a Tesla Coil or one of those globe thingies, but you'd likely have to buy one.
So it's basically limited to a fancy research project with a posterboard display? That sucks...

Wait... Maybe you can video tape something cool performed at home, and have it playing as her display? Of course, you'll need to have a table near electrical access, and a small TV and VCR...

Or, maybe you could get a portable DVD player and record to DVD? (or transfer the recording to the PC, and then burn the DVD)

Yeah, you'd think they'd be able to do something interesting :\

If only we had a camcorder. Heck, we don't even have a digital camera to record video. :\

Jon88's idea doesn't seem to bad. They didn't say anything about batteries or motors. I'll have to look into it.

Something like that would be nifty

Yeah, tesla coils are fun. I remember that some website has instructions on how to make one with a switch, a battery, and something from a car (Can't remember what it was called...)

I remember making those in a middle school science class... It was really cool!
Take the electric motor idea one step further and make a mini maglev train!
