My computer is continously freezing for no apparent reason. I cannot Ctrl+Alt+Del, move my cursor or anything. Just absolute freeze for about 20 seconds. It is totally random but is becoming more frequent every hour. I ran my spyware sweep, cleared memory, restarted several times, etc, etc. Anyone have any slight thoughts about what the problem may be?
Uhh, I know that there is a problem with word or something...Where it makes a computer run really slow in WinXP. Just end the process that is 80%+ using Task manger(you can get to it by using C+A+D)
Run your anti-virus if you don't have one i would get AVG it rocks :).

Doing so now....

Word isn't even on my computer. Like... This is insane. My CPU usage is jumping all around iin task manager. With no programs running except dreamseeker! Why would my CPU Usage be at 100% with 1 progam running and no unknown processes. Someone... please. BTW, AVG detected no viruses on my system. I am being urged to throw this computer out the window.Freezing... delaying, closing programs for no reason. And in IE, majority of the time, clicking a link does nothing... It just make the click noise and doesn't respond. This situation is critical.

backup all the things you want and reinstall windows don't forget to format the drive also try using a linux based OS?
In response to A.T.H.K
I don't know how to format a drive. Never done any technical things like that. I don't know what Linux truly is honestly. I just want my computer to stop freezing.

Try Defraging your PC?
In response to Taciturn
You don't need to reinstall Windows just yet, there's lots of things to try first.

Look at the processes list (Ctrl-Alt-Del, processes tab) and see what is causing all the CPU usage. (Click on the CPU column twice to order the list from highest to lowest usage.)

The easy way out is reinstalling crispy :P

That's true; a reinstall leaves that nice, fresh taste in your mouth when you turn it on again, too :D

I ran this drive for three years without defragging (on my old computer) without the problems he described :D

In fact, I've only defragged a drive twice my entire life.

I don't have the Windows XP disk. I just have this computer, that keeps freezing. No processes are using abnormal amounts of energy. I am running on the minimum amount of programs. Just every time I go to do something.... complete freeze. Like my computer has a seizure when I want it to do something.

Hmm, is this a pre-built (retail) PC? As in, does it have a brand? (HP, Dell, eMachines, Gateway, etc)

If so, you ought be able to contact the support team for your make and model PC and have them send you OEM Windows reinstall CD's. (Assuming Windows came installed on your computer)

There are a few virus what noobs have made that do not show up in the processes and lag the computer how much disk space have you got left?

Have a look in Add/Remove Programs there might be some spyware in that uninstall it if possible if not delete the folder.

My desktop is so... cluttered in that image!

My current desktop is far tidier.

I mean, I had such crap icons sitting around on my desktop... silly 2003 (?) Kuji...

BUT I DIGRESS... AGAIN!

The point I was trying to make was I don't think that defragmenting would solve his "system halt" problem he's describing...*

Although reinstalling Windows is obviously not the #1 choice in correcting this situation, it may be easier for a non-tech savvy user to just start fresh than attempt to track down the problem, diagnose it, and correct it.

------
*Not to say defragmenting isn't helpful! It can greatly increase the speed of navigating in Windows, if I recall correctly, although the experience has only once been first-hand.
