Hi,

Mt friends pc has good specs, but its really not in good shape because he has no anti-spyware and no anti virus program.
His computer has spyware and viruses...its obvious, slow download rates, 100s of pop ups etc. Is there a way to Safely clean his computer...

Sometimes when people use an anti-virus program it deletes certain files, when you run up windows after a restart it says Missing .dll or something. Is there a way to prevent this, but at the same time keep his computer safe. Thanks.
Well, to start with here's a free antivirus that I like to use. AVG.

As for spyware/adware, I use Spybot - Search and Destroy.

I suppose I could give this a shot as well. After you or your friend give both of those a run, download HijackThis (it looks like a stick of dynamite and a plunger) and make a log file, and post it here. Don't try to fix anything with it yet, though. That's for later.

Windows Defender is okay (though sometimes annoyingly paranoid). It wasn't originally a Microsoft product, just so you know - they bought it and renamed it.
