Please give me suggestions on this game idea!

The game will be played in [levels!], monsters will come and attack your town. You can choose your [one and only] unit and during the [break between levels!] you can level up and build your stats up.

I would like to expand on this idea. The coding seems really simple, just add on whatever you would like to see in the game.
One player has the ability to add buildings like walls and towers and such like.
I suggest you name the game "Castle".

Sounds like you only get one unit, making it more of an RPG-ish game. Atleast, that's what I think.
Download The Horde somewhere and see if you can get it to run. It'll give you some ideas, and it was a lot more fun than these Castle games/clones BYOND has everywhere.

You are correct. The only thing related to castle is the name "waves" for levels. I guess I better change that before I get flamed.

Also, I thought up of a sort of story mode to the game. The first player starts in the town. After a number of waves, the next player comes to join the fight with some reinforcements when things look grim. Any ideas to make this more creative?

You can use the same story line, but make it so the parts are random do people can't really expect what is next. Say, the other players come as different armies to help out. Just make sure you have something so the first player does not ruin the game for everyone else.

Well one thing I could use help on is how to go about using healing. There is both exp and gold. I could just get rid of one and use it the last one for leveling and healing. Any ideas on that?

Hrm, well you could try the HeroQuest route and let players visit "town" between levels to spend their hard earned gold on healing, gear, etc. But players have to balance early purchases with long term saving for better gear as well as be aware of inherent limitations (IE mages never get to wear heavy armor).

I hate it how mages always gotta be glass cannons. Give them heavy armor for once, and more short-range spells, so that they can be there in the melee too istead of always casting slow spells then nuking people and running away before anybody can get close.

What about Firefox mages? :P

The game will focus more on teamwork I suppose or not. It is up to the players. For example the warriors can defend the front line while the archers and mages can be in back. One other problem will be dealing with the AI of your allies. Also your in town fending off the monsters. If your town is destroyed or maybe if all the civilians die you lose. The town will not be the only setting of the story mode, the players have to do something about the thing sending the monsters.

They don't need armour, their protection is built-in!

I'm not sure if I should add armor and weapon equipment. Then again I could use weapon names as the means of leveling up the character. Hm.
